I thought I sent this a few days ago, so sorry if you get this twice, but I just love love love magnolia! I love how she promised eurydice that Jo would come home... Kinda reminds me of how a doctor is never supposed to promise that someone will make it through surgery. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Wow. Magnolia is way more compassionate than I thought she was. I love her and Seeder's roles as mentors and friends. But- girl from 10? Crazy person. This chapter was amazing, I really liked seeing the Games from the mentor's perspectives.

I would have sick with a straight timeline with the interviews. I like that Johanna was distracted and her entrance - but bringing that scene back to one throws the flow off.
Love the heart to heart with Magnolia again - I always want to see more with them, like maybe some more words about Eurydice - but as I said in the first chapter, Magnolia's no bullshit way about her allows this scene to remain simple. Some things are better left unsaid.

Looking forward to Marin's chapter next!

Yet another troop of characters! I could never herd that many cats! Every one is so thought out and well placed. I'm intrigued with the thought of the Districts being allowed bars - I wonder if this event might be why we don't see them in the future. Very excited to see what these guys have brewing. ;)

Great back and forth with in Eurydice and her mom. Lots of love and trust with just enough rebellious mischief.

Johanna's plan of being pathetic is definitely working - although a little too well - now it's getting unwanted attention. The scores might shake Maizy, but Blight ain't stupid. I'm sure he has his own notebook full of his suspicions of Johanna.
I enjoyed her scene with the Gamemakers - the blocking was very well written . Reminds me of an interview of Jennifer Lawrence describing her methods in the movie 'Poker House.'

A shorter chapter but filled with a lot of drama! The suspicion from the others is getting quite dangerous! I love the possibilities of an alliance - but will Jo take it?
I like that you're pinning down little bits of canon with actual dates, times and places. I can't wait to see what other fun easter eggs you'll drop along the way.

Johanna needs to move over and make room for Marin in my heart. Oh what an interesting idea for a tribute. Damn that Leilani - I wonder how she's being treated back home with everyone knowing she broke up the family and breaking her vows as a Volunteer.

We know these kids had to grow up, being Careers and mothers and Tributes... But you keep their age intact - they're still teenagers! And their vernacular is perfect. I enjoy their banter. And sweet Mags - a lot of precursors that break my heart knowing the inevitable.

I appreciate your willingness to put in the work with detail, especially with the other tributes. That's part of the fun, right :) I would easily get overwhelmed trying to keep track of everyone!
That being said, thank you for the reminder if the relationship of Magnolia and Eurydice! You packed so much in your first chapter, I must have missed that tidbit. It makes their relationship much more special.
Another nugget of goodness is Portia's contribution to this year's tributes. How clever!

Johanna has always been a favorite of mine - and your into made me fall for her all over again. Writing a whole troop of characters is a challenge in itself, and having her interact so perfectly with each one is a delight. I am glad she has Magnolia by her side on this journey. I would have liked to have seen a little bit more of a challenge for Magnolia to earn Jo's trust, but the no-bullshit approach works too.
Bravo on a great first chapter! I look forward to the rest of your story!

I love how Jo mentions the dryads almost every chapter, and yes, I would love love love to read a story about Marin!

Loved this chapter! I'm so glad Johanna gets to be Johanna again and not crybaby-Johanna. About Marin: YESSS backstory/training/life would be awesome! Next chapter might be another Career? Having a ghost tribute would be super cool, but idk if that's realistic.

I would love to hear more about Marin! She's probably my favorite tribute from these Games and I'd predict that she'd win if Johanna wasn't also in these Games!
