This leads me into speculating what these "tendencies" of Chandler's, or his "quality", as in 1.8, are supposed to be. I can't help suspecting that either they can't be defined (as, again, in 1.8), or that they relate to things that might not be considered as symptomatic of "gayness" outside the US.

At the time Friends is set, the 'third date rule' [no sex before then] was widely believed in, I think, so I'm surprised to see no reference to it by Chandler, as an excuse for his slowness (in Joey's eyes). It might not apply to gays, as Chandler could point out, but I can remember discussions about it with other, female, writers of fanfics. Certainly, there's more than one indication that having sex on the first date was thought definitely slutty, like Monica in the first episode or Rachel with Patrick.

I don't know - somehow, this feels like a Chandler who couldn't have pulled Janice, let alone at least one predecessor, and here and there in the early seasons, for shorter or longer periods, a number of women, including Aurora in 1,6 (you used this for inspiration, I think; thanks for sending me back, to burst out laughing even after all these years). Moreover, he doesn't have Chandler's obsession with details (2,3 the main source). But, okay, this is an AU - after all, Joey's *gay* - so we can have a Chandler even more diffident than the show's one. Keep going.
