It's always really weird seeing the families root for their kids to volunteer. It's lowkey fucked up man. Like ugh. OH GOD LEON DO BE SPEAKING THE TRUTH THOUGH. LIKE GIRL. VOLUNTEERING AIN'T THAT GREAT OF AN IDEA LMAO.

GloryShe sees a SUPER in her head. Like I'd describe her as anxious almost? Anxious, performance anxiety kind of vibes. Definitely has her worried for her future in the arena. I mean perhaps she can show us a good arc of overcoming these kind of feelings, or it'll be her demise in the end... I don't dislike Glory but I'm not particularly hopeful for her future. Maybe I'll be proved wrong though! Good luck Glory.

Wow this was amazing! It's always cool seeing your own tribute come to life, but you really made her pop!
I felt her insecurity, her jealousy, and her fear of failure. It was written very well, with lots of little details added in. I don't know how far she'll go, but I can't wait to see more!

this was an interesting chapter. it always shakes me to my core to see 18 year old Tributes who have families of their own. it's like "bro,,, you are a baby, how are you gonna have a baby?". but i do love the domesticity of it all and how it shows the slice of life aspects of District living. Elias seems like an interesting character and i can already see where this is going with him and his brother. i'm intrigued and i can't wait to see how it all plays out during the Reaping ceremonies. good chapter! looking forward to the next!

Uh oh... Now I'm sad. Elias is great! Sweet, a father (though I do get frustrated when these children decide to abandon their own children to the games) and a good brother. Alas it looks like he's volunteering for his brother so- I suppose it's alright. How do you even choose between your brother and your family? Ugh, choices. Elias is great though and I'm excited to see more. He's basically a career in training but not really so it should be super interesting! I'm sure he'll be one of my faves as the games progress!

Oleander seems like a really interesting character. He likes things his way, and he clearly tries to be positive. I'm assuming the "her" he was referring to was his mom, and I'm very interested about his backstory. Logan made an awesome tribute, and Fox, you wrote him amazingly.

Awesome chapter! It's pretty cool that you're not doing it tribute by tribute, district by district! Helps change the narrative up a little! I'm excited to see how the tribute list turns out! No doubt it'll be awesome.

Oleander-He seems very sweet and I love the part about him and his plants! He already has my hearts, though I'm afraid he won't do well in the games. Too soft? Maybe his plant knowledge could help him though? I like his relationship with Dahlia. It's really cute.

oh my goodness, when i saw this update notification i actually went bonkers bananas and clicked on it as soon as i could. this chapter was so good and wholesome. you did a wonderful job portraying my sweet boy and introducing everyone to him. this chapter really paints how he lives a relatively simple life in d11, just trying to get by like everyone else. it demonstrates how he operates day to day and it mentions his wholesome little friendship with Dahlia. i also like how you mentioned his past, as he dwells on it, but it doesn't consume his every single thought. i think you did an absolutely wonderful job with this chapter, fox. thank you so much for accepting my boy and doing him justice! you are so talented. i can't wait for the next chapter and the next tribute!

Aw I feel terrible for Card. I mean I'm glad he was able to find some sort of solace in his post Hunger Games life with Virgil. They are absolutely adorableVirgil seems to be extremely supportive. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to be the partner of a Victor and having to work through all that trauma with them.
Was a super great prologue and already has me interested in the characters! I'll probably be submitting a tribute at some point tonight or tomorrow!

I was intrigued by this story at purely because of the *ahem* glaringly obvious Twenty One Pilots reference, but it looks cool! Virgil and Card are adorableeeee, I really like them. The fact that Virgil agreed to go with Card when he said that it would make his day is so so cute, and shows they have a great relationship.
Aww, no D2F :( Oki then, looks like I'll submit somewhere else this time, probably still a Career (like always) :)
All in all, great prologue! I'll end up submitting :)

Hey! I really liked this opening chapter, it developed the main relationship quite well! I think that Card and Virgil are super cute, and I liked this little glimpse into their lives. One thing I found most interesting is that Card kept the scar from their time in the arena. I wonder why. Was it because it reminds them of the hardships they've faced? Or is it a reminder of guilt at killing? I think Sheen's death still haunts Card very much. I also find it heartbreaking that his mother died before he even got back. That must be another weight on his chest.

Anyway, this story looks good! I'm excited to see where it goes!
