Dragon Bone Z chapter 1 . 7/25
I assume he will use a sword and shield? Also, if you ever decide to go with dare crocea mor. Please don't just combine the two. Give him a range option. Not a longer sword
Fyr RedNight chapter 2 . 6/16
Good work on this chapter.
Undeadhero143 chapter 2 . 6/10
If Jaune is a RPG character, he obviously would be Paladin, need more Charisma though
ConsumedPolecat chapter 1 . 6/9
I like this take on the gamer semblance/mind story type. Jaune isn't the only one who knows about it and its not other people that have the gamer semblance/mind that knows. It is also nice that he isn't OP yet due to being terrible at RPGs.
IHateGenericCereal chapter 2 . 6/9
So will he not be using a shield with his spicy new Paladin powers? Guess I'll find out later. Good chapter, looking forward to the next.
WearyCurmudgeon chapter 2 . 6/9
- Toppings
*sees Jaune's favourite and face palms*

Weirdo.. And that's all I'll say on the topic.

Well, barring that Pyrrha might like the Gyro/Gyros variants, probably with goat cheese (feta?) and black olives. (Exercise imposed nutritional diet allowing of course.)

Whereas Blake is obviously all about the Seafood Pizzas.

*shrugs*

- Brain storming
Fairly good back and forth between the family. As well as explaining some of the terminology to the non gamers, such as grinding.

And an acknowledgement that Jaune will be engaging in this.

Kinda a gimmie for the physical side, why waste stat points, when you can grind it to a decent level simply by working out. A One Punch Man setup really.

*shrugs*

- Skills
Nice bit with the cooking and improving his skills. Don't think I've seen the "Mass Inspect" skill before, so kudos on that one.

Good test by the Semblance with the Aura boosting and whether he'd catch on BTW.

Now and this relates to next chapter as well. Will Olive remember that some games have party systems?

As that's one way to exploit the system and increase her own training time as well.

And Ada might want to consider having this tested out on the non Semblance kids as well. If only to ensure that everyone gets their Cooking Skill up to the Intermediate level or the Novice level at the least.

Home cooked meals are a lot cheaper than take out after all. So it would be prudent for ALL of them to know how to do it.

*shakes head and grumbles about lazy kids*

- Classes
So Rogue (hooded Jaune) and Cleric (mace guy) were the ones not mentioned?

Also based on the class names and the number of them, than it looks Luke you're going the D&D/Pathfinder route. (Only ones missing are Artificer, Alchemist and Favoured Soul and I would've ended up thinking you were cribbing from DDO. Which isn't a bad thing at all imnsho.)

But even if you aren't taking it as inspiration, it does still offer up some possible avenues for us to speculate on as to what your plans are.

The Mighty Protector aka the Sacred Defender.
Or in short, the Tank.

The Truthbringer aka the Vanguard.
DPS, where the shield is as much weapon as defense. (Pyrrha would be an example of the Fighter version of this.)

The Flame of Justice aka the Knight of the Chalice
DPS, but more specialized, focussing on the Undead and Evil Outsiders aka Demons, Daemons and Devils. (Chaotic Evil, Neutral Evil and Lawful Evil.)

Think this one very unlikely as none of the target groups exist on Remnant (Salem and Ozzie count as cursed humans, not undead). And the Grimm are native to Remnant.

Course you might retool it to be aimed at Grimm instead, but that might be more work than you'd be willing to sink into it.

So the first two seem like more likely options. Plus whatever else you might've come up with.

Wait and see.

- Tombstone
Three options at minimum.
Depending on how gamey you want this to be, it could be the Graveyard point from whence he can respawn.

Could be quest related.

Or a marker for an Instance/Dungeon dealing with the Undead.

Probably other options that I've overlooked.

- Impression
Overall, I think Jaune is a tad whiny and lazy. Somewhat understandable considering his age. But I do hope he grows out of it.

It's kinda irksome to see him panicky over fairly basic RPG stuff. But then I have to acknowledge that I already had a mild interest in them when I was his age, despite them being newfangled things.

So that may be personal biases clouding my judgment.

- Sdarkness05
You missed something.

Note the second and third paths mentioned in the quote below.

* Whether sworn before a god's altar and the witness of a priest, in a sacred glade before nature spirits and fey beings, or in a moment of desperation and grief with the dead as the only witness, a paladin's oath is a powerful bond.*

So yeah, deities aren't necessary, especially not considering the absentee of the Two Brats from Remnant.

*shrugs*

Heck, the Planescape setting has philosophy based Paladins and one could argue that the WoW Light using Paladins would also fall into this category as the Light isn't a Deity, but closer to a Primordial force and that it doesn't really care for mortal morality, see the Light users in the Scarlet Crusade.

Corrections:
*I know I promised to train you to be a Hunter, but…*

"Huntsman" not "Hunter".

Think of the former as a Title, rather than a Class.

So Momma and Poppa Arc are Paladins as a Class, but they hold the titles of Huntress/Huntsman, because they graduated from one of the Academies.

This differentiates them from Hunters who go after wild animals.

*Yes. I can teach you a few things about being a hunter until your father comes back,*

"Huntsman"

*This way you can start on your Hunter training even when I'm not here.*

"Huntsman".

*After lunch why don't we look at my skills list so you guys can help me out before you leave dad?*

Comma after "list".

*She felt Maron ruffle his hair.*

"He" not "She".

*Now that was a good question he thought so himself.*

"to" rather than "so".

*Would I be able to switch it out in the future if I just keep it as a bar for now?*

Comma after "if".

*Your Semblance will show status floating said items and will adjust ...*

"Your Semblance will show their status floating above said items and ..."

*The next few hours had Jaune done food prep, cooking, and even cleaned the various pots and pans he's used in making the food. *

Couple of tense issues, so a lot of small changes.

"The next few hours had Jaune do food prep, cooking, and even cleaning the various pots and pans he'd used in making the food."

*Every cut felt sharper after every vegetable or meat sliced, ...*

"... or piece of meat sliced, ...*

*Aqua teased despite putting food on her plate.*

Comma after "teased".

*Thanks, sis, the more I use skills, efficiency gets better.*

"... skills, the efficiency ..."

*... or else his sisters will be lazy. *

"... sisters would end up lazy."

*Standing next to that was wearing something he saw in those kung fu movies and had no weapons.*

Two options at least.
"... was one wearing ..."
"... was a version wearing ..."
TraktorVParovoze chapter 1 . 6/8
I like it
Sdarkness05 chapter 2 . 6/8
the question is what is the god that he will swear to serve in the future?
Six02 chapter 2 . 6/8
Woo! Finally someone does a class that fits Jaune in one of these things!
Argus456 chapter 2 . 6/8
Paladin eh? At least it's a lot more specialized than a standard fighter(as well as fit his canon self to a degree). Still, here I thought it could have been a progression tree for classes. Like from Fighter, Jaune could upgrade to Warrior, Knight, etc and work his way up to Paladin...though I suppose with his lack of knowledge with RPGs, I guess letting him select a class outright would be better cause I'd probably shudder at the build he has when he finally reaches Paladin.
Zair-Worst chapter 1 . 6/5
Never seen one where the mc tell anyone about their ability so this is quite new, but also makes sense cause...child. Amazing story, I’m looking forward to more.
Chrono Phoenix chapter 1 . 6/4
At the end Jaune has 2 sisters named olive. One 11 years old and the other 8 years old. One of those should be Iris.
WearyCurmudgeon chapter 1 . 5/31
- Training
Still think the reasoning for not teaching him is complete and utter BS, seeing how Remnant meets the criteria for a Death World.

No such thing as safety on a Death World, heck, it isn't even safe on a regular world like Earth.

Knowing how to defend yourself is pretty much a necessity, no different from knowing how to cook or do laundry.

(Better to have the ability and not need it, than to need it and not have it.)

*shrugs

- Inspiration & Borrowing
Might want to consider some of the games below as possible inspiration sources, as they're RPG/RTS hybrids for the most part. Latter three mentioned are turn based.

"WH40k: dawn of war" series. Warcraft 3 and expansion, StarCraft 2 series (they split it into pieces, so I'm calling it a series, heh), Spellforce Series or Warlords Battlecry, the Heroes of Might and Magic series or the King's Bounty series.

They might synch a bit better with Jaune's RTS inclination.

- Names
Quick thank you for adding four more names for my Color Rule compliant list.

Not so sure about the father but the sisters and mother? Yup, that's a definite four more.

(Beginning to see why RWBY has so many Huntresses and so few Hunters. Far easier to find female names that comply with the rule, than it is for males. Mr. Oum made things needlessly complicated with that idea.)

(Side note, if you want me to post a copy of the list(s) in a review, just say so.)

- Confusion
Uhm.. Isn't Saffron the eldest of the brood or are you changing that?

- Cooking
*frowns*
This is kinda implying that they were left alone and raised themselves, while their parents were working as Huntsman and Huntress.

I would've expected one parent to be semiretired, least till the eldest is responsible enough to look after her siblings and do the domestic chores. Which wouldn't be till the mid teens at the earliest.

Learning to cook would've been one of the domestic chores to be learned as home cooked meals are far more economical than take out.

Granted, everyone may have their specialties in the kitchen and suck at the preparation of other dishes, but they seem to not even have reached that level. (Bit surprising on Saffron's side as her canon self was IIRC a pretty good cook.)

- Stats
Kinda surprised that Olive didn't ask about stat grinding.
As the physical stats tend to be easier to raise than certain mental ones like wisdom or charisma.

Which would've then influenced his point allocation. (Although, I do agree with bumping his Int a bit, he rather needed that.)

Does wisdom also influence willpower? So higher wisdom meaning not being as lazy, as he was shown in this chapter by trying to offload decisions on others.?

- Ponder
Wonder if Olive will think of the possibility of there being a party system, next to the screen share one.

That could allow them to further test the system by unlocking the aura of one of the girls and see how she'd be effected. (Grinding the cooking skill?) ;-P

Whether she'd get stat points, XP or a class etc. Can always be sent to one of the other academies. Useful source of info down the road possibly.

- Class
Not sure about the father, but the mother shares a name with one of Charlemagne's paladins. Think this one was related to Astolfo, the Nasuverse trap.

*shakes head*

Still, number of options when it comes to the paladin class. Even when you look at RPGs.

To use some MMO and other games examples:

The Paladin from WoW is not the same as the one from DDO or the one from Rift.

Even the Diablo 2 or the Quest for Glory series Pally are different enough from one and other. Same goes for the Hellgate one.

So that doesn't mean that Jaune will be the weakest link on his future team, despite what some seem to be suggesting or calling for in the reviews. (Not quite sure how to interpret some comments.)

Corrections:
*Mostly used by Hunters, ...*

"Huntsman"
On Remnant a Hunter is someone that hunts wild animals. Those that go after Grimm and bandits are called Huntsmen (fairytale reference. See Snowwhite and Red Riding Hood) and Huntress.

Jaune getting it wrong, can be excused as being a kid and not knowing the difference plus his low Int score.

Not so much an adult and his father and mother should really point out the difference in the terminology and correct him, when he gets it wrong. But that can be implemented in the next chapter as part of his training

(No different from how an RPG Knight/Cavalier isn't the same thing as a Paladin, despite both classes often wearing plate armour.)

*Even those who aren't Hunters.*

"Huntsmen"

*... or had trained you to be a Hunter when you had asked. *

"Huntsman".

*... want to train you as a Hunter, namely to keep you out of harm's way.*

"Huntsman"

*... had a picture of Jaune T posing, a few bars, ...*

Does that "T" serve a purpose there? Missing word maybe?

If no, then nuke it.

*... dress you p as a girl from time to time," Jaune frowned.*

"... you up as ..."

*Olive feel free to put some input for Jaune to understand easier.*

"add" rather than "put".

*"I never remember eating home-cooked meals until Jaune was born."*

"I can't remember ..."

*While Wisdom is you use this info."*

"... is how you ..."

*More power to be a Hinter!*

"Huntsman".

*And your first step to becoming a Hunter."*

"Huntsman"

*Jaune:12

Olive: 11

Teal: 10

Olive: 8*

Last name should be "Iris", rather "Olive".
ScrabbleReader chapter 1 . 5/28
Well, you're right about one thing. It is different. I like how it's the Arc family that's helping him train. Usually, Gamer!Jaune fics just have him keep it to himself. But here, he's open about his Semblance and what it can do. After all, no reason to keep your Semblance a secret, not when you're supposed to be superstars.

Plus, I like that his Semblance has personality. Reminds me of that Slime anime, where the knowledge cheat skill has sass.
