The dud summon materia is a really neeto idea, and the Gods not viewing Shinra in a bright light is really understandable with all the shietty things they do, like killing the planet not caring who lives or dies unless it's the Pres or VP so yeah

I think you can use the next meeting with odin for an extended talk, the first time was a bit short.

Just wanted to help a bit with the old norse since it's basically Icelandic :P
"Be strong/brave my son" would roughly translate to "Mundu að vera sterkur sonur minnyou would put an Og, our and, since he says it after something else) and "Thank you" can be translated two ways "Þakka þér fyrir" which is more a thank you for being here/giving me this thing and "Takk fyrir" which is more commonly used, personally him saying "thank you and I'll be sure to remember" would roughly translate to "Takk fyrir og ég skal muna það"

Really good concept! The only thing I want to correct is that in Icelandic it's not "Minn sonur" it's "Sonur minn" other than that it's a really good story and it'd be really fun to play around with when he goes to join SOLDIER
