I adore this story just as much as I adored the first version when I read it years ago. It's unique without being extremely outlandish and unbelievable.
The rewrite is definitely more mature but still really great; the pacing is, imo, better in this version, the characters are described well and the first person POV gives a more personal aspect and insight in the mind of Alba - struggles, temptation and all.
I like your use of switching between outright defining character traits of Alba in thoughts, actions and speech- and then alluding to character traits of Dieter in body language and actions (Dieter keeping the blood-stained handkerchief, him keeping the book, him staying at the office constantly and so forth). I adore that the reader doesn't get know what Dieter is thinking but is constantly staying in the mind of Alba throughout the chapters. (Although, I would be super interesting to have a chapter from Dieter's POV; highlighting his pining, adoration, thoughts and struggles)

I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for a story on this site beforebut I had to say that your story is one of my absolute favourites. I read the original, and I found this one right afterwords. I wish I had the words to express how much I love your work.

I hope you continue to work on this rewrite, for I am in love with it, and I am dying for more.
