Captain Cuttlefish: It's been a whole MONTH now, and Marie STILL hasn't been killed; news conference tomorrow afternoon. The search has been called off; get that podium ready.

Agent 3: But it's old and beginning to rot, Captain.

Captain Cuttlefish: Make a new one, Three; have Eight help you.

(that evening)

Agent 8: Your new podium is ready, Captain.

Agent 3: We went to a hardware storeto get the materials to make it.

Agent 8: Wood, Flex Glue Clear, and wood sealer.

Agent 3: We even put the Squidbeak Splatoon logo on it.

Captain Cuttlefish: Nice job, you two.

(the following afternoon; Calimari County)

Agent 3: Ladies and gentlemen, the Captain of the Squidbeak Splatoon.

Captain Cuttlefish: Good afternoon, everyone; today, I've an announcement make about the bounty placed for the death of Marie Cuttlefish. It's been an entire month since then; I didn't want her in my family. Effective immediately, I'm calling of the search; the reward of 290 yen is now void, as I'm now donating it to Inkopolis' new pop idol duo: Off the Hook. I'm sorry, but what's done is done; I'm going to move back to my childhood home just 50 miles west of here; Agent Three is coming with me under a new name: Jon Cuttlefish. Agent Eight is going to live with Pearl and Marina under a new name: Bridgett Ida. Marina will treat Bridgett as if she was her daughter. This concludes the final news conference of the Squidbeak Splatoon.

[NOTE: from here on, I'm going to be use the names Craig, Jon, and Bridgett]

(that evening)

Craig: What're yo doing, Jon?

Jon: I'm sending a message to all FORMER Agents telling them that the Splatoon has been terminated.

(the following morning; Pearl's mansion)

DJ: Good morning, Inkopolis; time right now is 7:45 AM on a beautiful sunny morning. Temperature right now 87, with a high of around 95; make sure you put sunscreen on and find a well-shaded area to relax. Here's what's coming in over the wire; yesterday afternoon, Craig Cuttlefish disbanded the Splatoon. He said, in the final news conference for it, that he called of the search for the death of Marie after an entire month; he also said that the reward, set at 290 yen when he said that, was void and was donating it to Inkopolis' local pop idol Off the Hook. Let's get back to the music right now with 'Bomb Rush Blush' by the late Callie Cuttlefish; Callie, this one's for you.

War Marie: [I've got to get out of here; there's no (expletive) way I can obey her every order.]

(War Marie takes something out of her pocket)

War Marie: [These ought to work.]

(Real Inkopolis; same time)

[NOTE: in this, I'm an Inkling {around five feet tall, with cyan tentacle hair and blue eyes} working for the Inkopolis Police Department]

Me: Have you seen this woman?

Civilian: Name?

Me: Marie Cuttlefish.

Civilian: What did she do?

Me: She killed an employee of the Squidbeak Splatoon, dragged a dead DJ Octavio through the city, and exposed the existence of the Squidbeak Splatoon itself. There's a reward for her capture, set by order of Splatoon captain Craig Cuttlefish. He want her dead.

Civilian: How much?

Me: He set it at 50 yen, starting today; for every day that she isn't captured, it goes up by 5.

Civilian: How can I see what the current reward amount is?

Me: There will be daily announcements on the radio on all frequencies, AM and FM; there will also be a ticker on TV at the top of the screen on all channels. You can even check the front page of the Inkopolis Times.

Civilian: If I see her, I'll let you know.

Me: Good day.

(10 days later)

Pearl: 'MARIE CUTTLEFISH - REWARD FOR DEATH: 100 YEN'; I'll forward this to our active Squidbeak Splatoon employees.

(Wahoo World; a sign marked CRIME SCENE- DO NOT ENTER is taped to the entrance)

Me: Frank, what've I told you about placing a sign that big up there?

Frank: Don't put up a sign that big.

Me: It's SUPPOSED to be three feet long and two feet wide; that's FOUR feet long and THREE feet wide. Get back to the station; I'll have James take over.

(screams are heard in the distance)

Frank: That came from the Square!

(Inkopolis Square; War Marie is shooting innocent civilians with Widowmaker)

Me: (in a police helicopter, yelling into a megaphone) MARIE CUTTLEFISH, YOU ARE UNDER ARREST; PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!

War Marie: I DON'T THINK SO!

(War Marie uses Widowmaker to shoot the helicopter's engine; the helicopter makes a rapid descent)

Me: (panicking) WE'RE GOING DOWN!

(police officer lands safely on the ground)

Me: That was the only police chopper we had.

(turns around and faces War Marie)

Me: MARIE CUTTLEFISH, YOU'RE UNDER ARREST; PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!

(War Marie points Widowmaker at the police officer)

War Marie: NOT A CHANCE YOU [EXPLETIVE] POLICE SQUID!

(War Marie shoots the police officer; he falls to the ground dead)

War Marie: Now to kill Craig.

(Captain Cuttlefish's house; Calimari County)

Judd: Okay, Craig; now you've literally ALL of Callie's life savings and possessions.

Captain Cuttlefish: That's good, Judd; tomorrow, I'm going to arm this house to the teeth.

(a loud thumping is heard)

Judd: If it's Marie, don't let her in.

(door is kicked open)

Judd: IT'S MARIE!

(War Marie shoots at Judd, killing him)

Captain Cuttlefish: NOW YOU'RE IN FOR IT!

(War Marie presses a button on a remote hidden behind her back; a loud explosion is heard)

Captain Cuttlefish: MY CAR! I'VE HAD THAT SINCE 1955 AZ, WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT!

War Marie: Is that the same year the Squidbeak Splatoon was formed?

Captain Cuttlefish: THAT'S CORRECT; TWO MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT TO BE EXACT!

(War Marie uses Widomaker to kill Captain Cuttlefish)

War Marie: It's time for war.

(several weeks later; a war between the Squidbeak Splatoon and the War Splats is beginning)

Agent 3: No wonder I had to void the reward for Marie's death.

Sheldon: What was it before you voided it?

Agent 3: 2,520,700 yen.

(a few years later; Agent 3 is the only person remaining on the Squidbeak Splatoon side)

War Marie: Any last words?

Agent 3: You're under arrest?

(War Marie aims Widowmaker at Agent 3)

War Marie: WRONG ANSWER, YOU [EXPLETIVE {x2}]!

(War Marie uses Widowmaker to kill Agent 3)

War Marie: THE SQUIDBEAK SPLATOON HAS FALLEN! THE WAR SPLATS ARE VICTORIOUS!

(Several months later; Warmonger universe)

War Pearl: You did a good job of taking down Squids and Octos in your home dimension.

War Marie: Took me several years, but I did it.

War Pearl: I forgot about something.

War Marie: What's that?

War Pearl: I've got something to show you; come with me.

(another room of the War Splats HQ)

War Pearl: This girl killed a regular Marie in HER home dimension; she amputated her right arm with a chainsaw, but War Marina gave her a new one using her Tactician skills. We call her War Callie.

War Callie: Hey, War Cousin.

[NOTE: in this review, I'm an Inkling standing at around 5 feet tall, wearing glasses and having blue eyes; I'll also be Agent 2, replacing former Squidbeak Splatoon Agent Marie]

(the next day)

Captain Cuttlefish: I put your records and profile in, Agent 2; check your phone, it'll be there.

(checks phone)
Me: 'JOE ORSINI - AGENCY STATUS ACCEPTED. PERMANENTLY REPLACING MARIE CUTTLEFISH AS AGENT 2.'

Captain Cuttlefish: There's also your first assignment from Pearl Hime, who's also an Agent.

(checks phone again)

Me: 'Welcome to the New Squidbeak Splatoon; congratulations on accepting the offer to replace former NSS Agent Marie Cuttlefish as Agent 2. Your first assignment is to arrest Ms. Cuttlefish; she killed another NSS Agent, Marina Ida, in public. She also dragged DJ Octavio through Inkopolis, accidentally spilling the beans on our 'secret Agency', which is no longer a secret anymore; we've alerted a CURRENT NSS Agents to help, including yourself. The reward for her capture starts at 50 yen, increasing by 5 for every day that she remains our 'new enemy'; good luck and don't fail. - Pearl'

(10 days later)

Me: It's been ten days; the reward is now 100 yen, increasing by 10.

(a month later)

Me: It's been a whole month, and the reward is up to 400 yen; hope it doesn't go up.

(several weeks later)

Me: Say what, Pearl?

Pearl: (on phone) Captain Cuttlefish has increased the reward for the rogue's capture; it's not going any higher.

Me: How much?

Pearl: (on phone) 2,520,700 yen.

Me: All right!

Pearl: (on phone) However, he's giving you a partner: Ken Jenninks.

Me: What's his alias?

Pearl: (on phone) Agent 74.

Me: Thanks, Pearl.

(hangs up phone, only to hear a loud booming noise)

Me: KEN!

(gets out phone and calls Pearl)

Pearl: (on phone) Hello?

Me: THE ROGUE KILLED AGENT 74!

Pearl: (on phone) Captain Cuttlefish has doubled the reward to 5,041,400 yen! HE WANTS HER DEAD!

Me: She'll just respawn.

Pearl: (on phone) Relax; we turned off all the respawn points.

(a loud booming sound is heard)

Me: WHAT WAS THAT?

Pearl: (on phone) THE ROGUE KILLED CAPTAIN CUTTLEFISH!

(another booming sound is heard)

Me: Please tell me that she didn't just kill Agent 3.

Pearl: (on phone) Unfortunately, she did.

(another booming sound is heard)

Pearl: (on phone) SHE KILLED AGENT 8!

(another booming sound is heard, followed by a thumping sound)

Me: Pearl? Pearl, can you hear me? Pearl Hime, please respond! PEARL!

(phone get shot by the rogue, being replaced with static)

(5 years later)

Marie: Agents of the Dark Squidbeak Alliance, bow before your leader: ADMIRAL MARIE CUTTLEFISH!

I have no clue where this is going! And I’m deathly looking forward to it! Keep up the good work, this is really starting to become something.

Wow. That sure was sad. But then again, what an awesome alternate ending to the story mode!

Sometimes I like reading some sad stuff like this to get away from "happy endings" once in a while. This story didn't disappoint.

I really liked this alternate ending story! Stay Fresh!
