MamaStreet chapter 2 . 4/24 Oh my goodness. I’ve read this how many times, and it still gets me. Tears every time. Such a beautiful depiction of the old, old story. |
Here's2tomorrow chapter 2 . 4/13 Wow. I just... Wow. Very, very well done. Thank you for sharing this. |
wryter501 chapter 2 . 4/12 awww... i love that first scene with shimon and yohanan. he's a bit of a type-of-christ in that, am i right? coming to shimon in his misery, paying his debt and encouraging his return to the brotherhood... forgiving, not condemning. i like shimon's version of logic - if he can come alive again, why die in the first place? and yohanan's response to compare the cross to the passover sacrifice. blood shed as a means of protection from the angel of death... shimon's struggle seems very realistic - hope that the resurrection could happen, but fear that it could, also. b/c what can i say if he is alive, what do i say about my failures and betrayal?... (it brought tears to my eyes when shimon realizes who it is that's washing his feet - again.) it's an interesting consideration, i never thought about before, that shimon would consider it his responsibility to protect christ, and that he failed - but now the truth/gospel is his to protect, and he won't fail... thanks so much for writing this! |
wryter501 chapter 1 . 4/12 hey, i really like the chapter titles from the chapter in ecclesiastes! i like that the fire they warmed themselves around is now ashes - good symbolism. 'disappointment and hurt chastising him from his eyes'... (do you think peter was close enough to see jesus' expression when he turned and looked at him at the third crowing? if he was, i kinda thought the expression would have been forgiveness already, and that would hurt peter more than disappointment or judgment...) that's a powerful moment at the end of the chapter, though, shimon lashing out at the brother who introduced him to his messiah, rejecting comfort and companionship... (makes me sad. so, well done.) |
