Reviews for The Immortal Gamer
Neoacoya1 chapter 6 . 8/3
My suggestion: delete Harry's stat sheet from previous chapters so you aren't artificially boosting your word count.
Daddi chapter 6 . 8/3
cool, thanks
youflesh840 chapter 5 . 8/2
Woah! I think this is my new favorite gamer story!
The Epitome of Eccentricity chapter 5 . 8/2
I had to stop reading. No one would let children drive their car in the middle of town. And then his eyes glowing with power? It's bad. Really bad. Way to contrived, and way too cringy.
The Epitome of Eccentricity chapter 4 . 8/2
Why is it in italics?
JustAShadow4 chapter 6 . 7/30
Loving the story so far
webzayne717 chapter 4 . 7/29
If you're already had the status in the chapter, why copy it and put it at the bottom. You're just word padding at that rate, it certainly doesn't earn you any goodwill.
Uncanny Genius chapter 5 . 7/28
Nice Story. The MC, Harry is slacking. If not he wouldn't have been beaten by his cousin, Dudley and his friends. He should grind like no tomorrow to avoid what happened to him and stop relying on his gang to protect him.
SlashedFall51 chapter 6 . 7/28
I really like where this story is heading and hope you continue to upload more. I would love it if you did longer chapters like the latest one.
Spacestrider chapter 6 . 7/26
Damn Harry gets shit done. I'm very impressed. Just keep in mind that Harry is still Harry even with this large leap in an ooc direction. Cold hearted sociopath or not killing and torturing without reason isn't really Harry's style. I'm not saying don't kill or torture anyone just have a good reason for it. Like Vernon who died via invisible truck of force.
RandomCoolGuy chapter 6 . 7/26
kk good for you
Jack chapter 6 . 7/26
First off, an interesting story despite being a bit rough around the edges. I think it has a lot of potential and I really look forward to reading more of this even if you don't edit out all the little oddities and mistakes.

Intellect shouldn't be increased by decision making. That's what wisdom is for. Intellect is about storing and retrieving information along with ensuring the information retrieved is accurate. So basically, if he reads a book and successfully memorizes it or recalls information from a few weeks or months back... Int goes up. If he makes a wise choice, Wis goes up.

This:"Properly thinking things through caused your INT to go up by 1"; should not be how intellect functions.

Piers is like... Nine? Ten? He can't be older than ten if he's in the same class as Harry and Dudley. So... how is he reaching the pedals on a car or seeing over the steering wheel? Or rather, how is he doing both at the same time?

Why is his father letting someone who can't reach the pedals on a car take his car for a ride? Even if, for some bizarre reason, a nine or ten-year-old is able to drive... that doesn't mean they're not going to get arrested for doing it. That's very much illegal. His father could get arrested for allowing it.

Harry should have died from being hit by a car. End of Story. Gamer powers aren't going to save him from something that has a high chance of killing an adult. At least not at this early of a stage and with his weak physical abilities. Speaking of which, why didn't he do pushups in his cupboard or something? You can't tell me he was never locked in his cupboard. Or that the latch on the cupboard could be lock-picked since there's no key or anything like that. Until his magic is able to unlock the door for him, he should logically be trapped in the cupboard with very little to do. Reading? Read while doing pushups. Turn the page and do a pushup. Finished a book? Stack it on your back with the others while doing a pushup. Now you're training balance, strength, stamina, intellect, and possibly wisdom if you're trying to put together the new information with past information. He's also tiny. Why not do some flexibility training while reading a book. Result: Stamina, flexibility, and intellect; again, possibly also wisdom as well.

There's also the fact that his magic should have moved him out of the way due to moving Harry being the least-costly form of protection it can provide. That's the issue with any kind of serious abuse in HP fanfictions. Strong emotions cause accidental magic, so anything that would make Harry truly afraid would cause immediate magical backlash. Sure, maybe Dudley and his gang could get away with beating up Harry a little bit. He might not be that scared even if it hurts.

But a car coming at him? Those regularly kill adults who get run over by them. There's no way his magic wouldn't sense his desire to get out of the way and act on it.

Heck, even Vernon beating Harry would be terrifying. Imagine a ten foot tall guy... Hagrid I guess... coming up to you and started beating you. You'd be scared like nothing else, wouldn't you? Instant accidental magic.

Final thing, not much more than a gripe to be honest, is that Harry could've just cut the breaks and emergency break, cut the air bag in the steering wheel, cut the seat belt, cut the steering, cut the door locks, and stick the gas pedal to the floor. It would've cost far less magic than shoving several hundred lbs. worth of metal car and fat man while making it look like someone at his work sabotaged him since he got to work ok, but then crashed while returning home.

For a simpler job, he could've even vanished most of the gas in the tank, drew oxygen into the tank, turned some of the gas into fumes, and then sparked the tank.

That's how they get Hollywood explosions: low amounts of gas in the tank, then let it sit long enough for oxygen and fumes to mix together. Instant Hollywood explosion.

Right now, anyone who saw the incident... like say Petunia through the window... would've instantly suspected something odd was going on.

There's also the issue that cars are designed to save people from exactly the kind of incident that just happened. True, cars back then had a lower chance of saving him. But, if he was turning into a driveway, Vernon wouldn't have been going fast at all. And if Harry were trying to kill him with no chance of survival, he wouldn't leave it up to chance like that. Especially not one with a moderate probability of survival. It's the equivalent of flipping a coin to see if Vernon kills him later.

Re-read the previous chapters and still can't wait for a new one. Harry might be a bit dark in this story but really, who would blame him after being abused.
King of Alchemy chapter 6 . 7/26
