Her father went to extreme measures, what else he will do after the last attempt of escape? He won't be happy.

This story seems promising...Really, but I gotta say some flashback scenes truly would be needed to explain some things mentioned, like the branding incident, as otherwise they feel like somewhat random info dumped on the reader even they are essential in establishing the setting and the relationships between characters...As for example it took me a moment to understand the meaning of the brand in her arm without an actual scene or something similar to explain it.

It is an interesting plot. It would be good to have a flashback to explain how she decided to become a pirate and met James.
