Guest chapter 2 . 5/23 "This is a place that you all made together so that you could find one another. The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people. That's why all of you are here. Nobody does it alone, Jack. You needed all of them, and they needed you." Ten years ago. Sometimes it feels like yesterday. One of the most beautiful and inspirational endings I've ever seen. This is such a brilliant piece as well as a good tribute. Great to read after (re)watching The End. It makes you feel the hope and the peace, the love and the wholeness. I loved the imagery, all the spiritual references. The 23 Psalm echoes across the ending. The Island, once the "valley of deep shade", became the Promised Land, the house where to live forever, where you'll never thirsty again, and "goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life". Jack and Kate are the perfect Adam and Eve, the inherent nobility and goodness shine through their souls. And the "desperate thought that Hugo only stayed with him because he couldn't make it down to the sea below" gave me chills. Because I sadly realize that it's only been a short time since the last moments together on the Island (from Jack's POV only) and because their dynamic is one of the purest things ever. |
Marla's Lost chapter 2 . 5/22 I'm crying dammit - that was THE most beautiful ending. You have such a talent that I'm caught up on a dang airplane ride wishing I was there! You are an amazing writer - hoping to read something from you again (soon!) Marla's Lost |
Guest chapter 1 . 3/13 I love the way you described the light. Not only it's the most beautiful thing ever seen, but it whispers, it guides and it envelops all of them. It really conveys a great feeling of peace as well as the lyric image of Jack and Kate holding hands during their flight. The Jack's characterisation and viewpoint are brilliant and beautifully done. He's the same old Jack but he's enlightened too. He's stubborn and restless as always, but any resistance and tension he could have goes away immediately. Because he's at peace, he's free and he has Kate. His soul doesn't own anything but has everything. He believes, he trusts and he loves. Also, I love the thought of Ji Yeon growing up with the Jin's father who is one of the purest souls of the show. The most emotional part to me, anyway, is the reunion between Jack and Aaron and David (it's great to see them as brothers and both young men). His soul is pure and strong enough to resist the temptations of the earthly life and is rewarded with the love. It's such a conforting notion of afterlife, being surrounded by love and continuing the journey with your life's love. |
Lost42 chapter 1 . 3/7 I love this. |
Marla's Lost chapter 1 . 3/7 OMG - I am so in LOVE with this story! I must confess, I'm recently widowed (4 months) and if heaven is anything like what you've written, my heart can be at peace. Just a resting place in until forever - you are so wonderful. I can't wait until the next chapter. PS - I always thought that David really was Jack and Kate's son in the sideways because Juilet was a blonde - nicely worked in there. |
