Another character is introduced, the good doctor. A very descriptive chapter, which draws the reader in (despite the use of the modern word "okay," which always jars with me and is distracting - that's just me).

‘louisa’ certainly is a force to be reckoned with, Porthos will be glad to see her but I’m sure they will want to know on whose orders has she been released from the Chatelet. Has Athos made a new enemy?

Loved Louisa's little game with the Red Guard! Also loved Athos's steady presence and assurance.

At least Louisa is out of the frame, being incarcerated in the Chatelet. However, she is still vulnerable, even locked up. Loved the phrasing of your last sentence.

So, Capitaine Perrault is a nasty piece of work. The poor servant will obviously tell him where Elle/Louisa is.

Porthos is smitten, but he’s not stupid. I loved Athos here at the end too.

I enjoyed their discussion very much. Louisa has an ally in Pirthos, whether he realises it or not. Athos's acquiescence may be for Porthos, rather than Louisa, but perhaps he is coming around to. This remains a very well written, intriguing tale.

Definitely a dun dun dun moment! I didn't expect that!

I think Porthos is really struggling with this woman, it feels like she’s playing him and yet he seems to also feel that there’s some truth but he doesn’t quite know for sure. What will Porthos think about her revelation that she is pregnant? I have a feeling that Porthos may well be having a few disagreements with his brothers about her.
