Whilst I'm all for characters getting some action, blue balling the MC never really sits right with me. Anyway on the topic of animagus form I can't really give a good answer to that since dragons are already used by the tip top magicals (p. AN can you be more clear on where modern magical stand against older ones? From my understanding the level required to be arch mage has significantly decreased yet Harry went to a strip club out of stress for having to fight Dumbledore and such when he has access to the dark lady herself as a teacher). Anything based on a snake won't work since his personality whilst cunning isn't his most defining characteristic, and theres no telling what incubus lineage does to the form you choose, so my suggestion is either a big ass western dragon, a dragon human hybrid or a devil human hybrid like devil may cry's forms, failing any of those there's the raiju, raijins lightning dog/wolf/beast companion from Japanese mythology, which might work well with having multiple depictions and lightning powers to contrast with Harry's metamorph magic and favouritism for lightning.
