Reviews for Out of the Abyss
AkiraRedtiger chapter 10 . 5/2
Hello! Sorry, it's been a while, but I still very much appreciate this story! The last chapter is especially interesting, in the way that you describe very well the process of re-discovering basically everything. Loki starts to make sense of his surroundings by discovering what his senses are (and indeed it seems logical that the first one is sight). I didn't know about the Ganzfeld effect at all, that's interesting! And indeed, sensory deprivation is truly scary. It shatters our most basic perceptions and it seems very hard to completely recover from such an ordeal. I also found very impactful the fact that desire for pleasure almost immediately drives desire for change, and ending on greed shows that all emotions have a purpose, all are necessary and not inherently good or bad.
In short, very good chapters!
Zombie Cat Scientist chapter 4 . 3/27
I love this. I'm always a sucker for science/philosophy fic and like to write it myself from time to time, there isn't enough of it.
AkiraRedtiger chapter 6 . 3/22
Hi! I don't know if my reviews are relevant, but I really enjoy this take on mind control. It's a very good idea to give some background about the past and status of the Other, and how he interacts with the Children of Thanos. This seems adequate and in accordance to the MCU, at least as far as I see it. Reading this chapter was quite impressive, because the Other's "voice" if I may say, is a bit unsettling, but you handled that perfectly well. Great chapter once again!
AkiraRedtiger chapter 5 . 3/1
Hello! Short but quite an impactful chapter! It would seem indeed too easy to see Loki's consciousness re-emerge all of a sudden, for no reason at all. The process is going to take time, for sure. And yes, can we even speak about emerging? Are all his memories still "somewhere", or do all connections forming his consciousness have to be rebuilt? I really don't know what can be done, to be honest... So I look forward to reading what comes next! Because there has to be a solution, somewhere!
Thank your for this chapter!
Chocho chapter 4 . 2/14
OMG this is such an intriguing story. I can't believe the humans let Thor take his brother home to be buried 'alive'. Or I guess in Asgards burned 'alive' in a boat. I mean Thor gave a great argument but they should of at least tried the shock therapy. They have a living car battery. RIP Loki ;)
AkiraRedtiger chapter 3 . 2/5
Hi! Indeed I find it a bit harder to review this chapter, since it's basically a re-take of the Avengers, though from the point of the Other. Pretty interesting to see what acts as stimuli to Loki and how the Other tries to keep the upper hand on his mind. Now I'm really looking forward to discovering the next chapters, which I suppose get to the heart of the topic, after the spell breaks.
Thank you for this chapter!
AkiraRedtiger chapter 2 . 1/29
Quite an interesting take I see here!

All in all, there are not that many stories about the long-lasting effects of the Void on Loki's sanity, which is mostly due to the fact that it is indeed so difficult to describe. I really like the analysis of both Loki's mental state when he learns the truth about his origins, and the depictions of utter absence of any kind of sensations in the Void, which slowly but surely breaks him. That was a hard thing to handle I suppose, but the result is great to read.

Also, I've never actually seen such a deep analysis of how the Mind Stone might work. This is very brave of you to initiate such a description! Mind and Soul truly are the hardest Stones to deal with, on many aspects. The step-by-step process of mind control is well thought and quite a surprising, and effective, way to learn a bit more about the basics of neuroscience.

I'm definitely eager to read more! Thank you for these chapters and look forward to reviewing the next ones!
