This was such a great story, from beginning to end! I came to it just in the last month or so, and have eagerly binged my way through it. I love their dynamic together, so sweet, even when it was conflicted. You've certainly wrung a bucket of tears out of me too. Yes, yes, PLEASE write a sequel during the time jump from Tatooine to the epilogues. After being with Obi-Wan and Sabe for 40 chapters of detailed years, I felt disappointed to not be able to go through that part of their lives with them, the loss of their daughter and how they got through it. You're very good at bringing them to life, and I'm not ready to let your version of them go yet. :)

Now why did I not think of this twist? Of course you kept the daughter's name secret BECAUSE SHE IS REY. What a genius idea, Rey being frozen in carbonite all those years and having no memories of her childhood. Heartbreaking but genius. It really lands because you didn't have to make up some mother for Rey who we don't really know or care about when it's Rey's connection to her family we want. I absolutely love it.

I just hurt for Sabe being alone all those years, waiting, and also for Sabe having to return home without Rey and tell Obi-Wan what happened and what that did to their family. D: D: D: The reunion of mother and daughter was lovely, but what really got me was Obi-Wan's ghost and, "I much prefer hellos."

Thank you so much for a beautiful conclusion to this beautiful story. Your thoughts for what happens after are great, and I DEFINITELY want to read the Tatooine years! But totally understand you need a bit of a break.

Sending much love and congratulations on finishing this epic tale! This was a much more satisfying ending than canon, and it wasn’t even an ending per se, more an optimistic beginning of something else. I loved that you ended with Rey and a binary sunset like the movies, BUT in this version it makes sense! Because the sunset actually means something to her. Yay! (No, I’m not salty about canon, not at all…) The overall sense of hope and optimism here was lovely, even though there’s still hard times ahead for all of them. That’s very Star Wars to me.

Old Sabé is great. Still the Sabé we know and love, but unavoidably changed by time and experience. The parallels with her and Rey and the day-counting tally was really nice. The reveal was perfectly paced. The family catch-up was lovely!

Was that a nod to AOTC when Sabé said she wasn’t alone because she had DC-10 with her? :D Also randomly, the mental image of Chewbacca drinking tea is hilarious to me for some reason. I know you’re considering a Tatooine years sequel, which I would read the heck out of, as you know, but part of me also wants to see how this one would continue. Luke and Sabé with the Resistance, the showdown with Ben/Rey/Jaina and how that would play out, etc. But I totally get if you don’t want to do that. It would probably get out of hand!

Anyway, huge well done again. This has been an epic and amazing journey :D

God I got really misty eyed reading this. The carbonite was a bit unexpected explanation but I liked it.

I would definitely loved to see the Tatooine years. I’d love to read a few one shots with Obi-Wan’s perspective when Rey was born, when he lost her, and when he found her again. Yeah. Those would be amazing. You’re really good at this stuff.

I love the use of present tense for this. It really helps build up the anticipation of meeting Luke. Their conversation was so great! Interesting changes from canon. I love that you brought Mara and Jaina back! I like the gradual hints about Rey, they’re really effective. And it was so lovely to hear Luke’s thoughts and memories of growing up as Obi-Wan and Sabé’s child. Can’t wait to read the third epilogue :)

This was a lovely re-imagining of The Last Jedi! Can't wait to see how it all wraps up and what happened to Rey's mother.

Um, do you know what Obi-Wan with a man-bun DOES to me? Probably. ;) Well, I almost wasn't able to read past that point because I'm such a fan haha.

This epilogue is such a wonderful slice of life. I love domestic happy family fic more than anything, and I just really felt like I was a bystander watching a day go by at the little homestead. They're such good parents! And still so in love! And the kids are adorable! And Obi-Wan and Sabe have found peace!

Until...they haven't. Because nothing can stay good for families in Star Wars, can it? Dying to know what's happened. And oh poor Sabe. Waiting for her daughter to come back like her granddaughter will someday wait for her parents to come back. JUST DESTROY ME, WHY DON'T YOU.

I really hope your sequel ideas are going to include this wonderful domesticity. I can't get enough of the Little Homestead in the Desert. ;)
