This was alright. While it was absolutely cute, Charlotte didn’t feel like Hat Kid. Throughout the game, she’s afraid of exactly two things: Queen Vanessa and Empress. The first is practically eldritch, and the second set the entire Metro on HK and outmaneuvered her (saved only by a stroke of luck).

Outside of them, she faces everything with confidence. Even with Snatcher, who took her hat (and badges by extension), she fought circles around him. Navigate her way through a town flooded with lava? Run through a deathtrap to disable a bomb in two minutes? Zip at breakneck speeds across peaks so tall they’re at cloud cover altitude? Not a problem.

Examining the ship shows she’s scarily intelligent. Even setting aside the fact the ship is heavily personalized, she clearly knows what the machines in the ship do.

Charlotte barely seems to know anything about anything that aren’t the Time Pieces, and seems like... well, like a five year old. Desperately in need of love and comfort, clingy, and terrified of a lot. If this story didn’t rely on the reader having played AHiT, I would have recommended changing the names and fine details and say it was inspired by AHiT.

That’s my primary gripe. My smaller one is that Snatcher just... completely abandoned his ‘minions’. He clearly cares for them, and yet suddenly he’s gone forever.

So, yeah. Cute story, a decent read, but Charlotte felt completely unlike Hat Kid and that caused this to not feel like A Hat in Time.

This was a great story. Lots of wholesomeness.
It almost seems like a fairy tale, what you've made this into. It's quite impressive.
I'll definitely check out any other AHiT fanfictions you make if you make them.

Good chapter. Although the flashback made me kind of uncomfortable, I had to skip like half of it. Maybe you could've... uh... done maybe like the day after she was born for the flashback.
But anyway, it was still a great chapter as always.
