Don't feel bad! The premise your fic was built on is super unique and interesting. I always thought your story had so much potential! Take all the time you need to rewrite it to your liking.

I will offer some of my critiques on how I view your story as it is today. I'm sorry if this is too long or even inaccurate, as it's been a while, so I'm doing this all from the top of my head. But there's some areas of your story that I believe will benefit if only worked on a little!

For a start, I do agree that if Minato was actually in reign of Naruto body, canon should've derailed pretty quick lol, what are the chances things go exactly the same way with THE Minato Namikaze behind the wheel? Unfortunately, in my opinion I'd also have to say that your Minato didn't really capture the depth and complexity of the real Minato's character.

I was always under the impression that he was a super rational guy with a disarming cheery persona, veiling his analytical prowess, and surprisingly cold & ruthless side. This guy was a supposed genius. He was debated to be as smart as Itachi if not smarter, with more life experience to boot, and better mental health lol (or at least a friggin master of compartmentalization). So I really felt this Minato didn't realise or do things he REALLY should've. Just imagine what Itachi would do in his place with the same knowledge as a contrast.

I didn't like all the Hiruzen bashing, canonically Danzo was the one who leaked Naruto's jinchuriki status, and forced Hiruzen to confirm, but he still attempted to mitigate the damage by banning the knowledge to pass to the younger generation, albeit this was still somewhat backfired in the end. Danzo's why Konoha hated Naruto so much. Yet Minato didn't really ask the right question to himself, only focused on how betrayed he felt for Naruto, rather than use his analytical mind. Or be direct like he often is. One confrontation with Hiruzen after Minato true identity was revealed, Hiruzen would likely spill the truth, and maybe be able to finally explain his other decisions in Naruto's life. But it. just. didn't. happen!

In fact one of my biggest pet peeves from way back, was that Minato never revealed himself to Hiruzen, yet his reasons for doing so seemed so unlike him. But there were many reasons he should've. First, canonically Hiruzen was the only other person who could perform the shiki fujin, so he's the guy Minato would want to go to let someone he trusted know something went terribly wrong with the sealing & potentially help in how to fix it! I believe Hiruzen would at least eventually provide support in trying to get Naruto back if Minato proved to be who he said he was, rather than Minato just randomly doing that strange sacrificial solo mission of stealing the shinigami mask? I also just think that if Naruto had actually been there and came back, who knows what state he would have been in, after theoretically residing in the shinigami's stomach since birth! He's be left to the wolves in a village that hated him, with potentially no memories, in a weird isolated place? Why did Minato not consider this?

Plus was it not important to him to investigate with Hiruzen & other allies about the 'masked man' (not to mention his huge security breach), to try to avenge his loss of Kushina and why this whole mess with losing Naruto's soul even happened? Why didn't he try to investigate this by himself at least? He didn't even think about that. Nope, he decided to give Naruto's body the best life with him as the avatar! Just...would Minato really do that? Naruto sadly seems gone for good, and was never really able to be there in the first place, merged soul or not, Minato was the only one that was really pulling the ropes.

I also disliked how Minato realised early on he could apparently literally become Hokage again but did nothing with this realisation in the end! He could have returned using literally any BS excuse with the support of Hiruzen, like he was put in a coma in near death state the whole time in secret, to heal from damage dealt by the Kyuubi. Resolving the huge power vacuum and precarious state Konoha was left in after Minato's death, albeit having to return under an illusion & greatly weakened. But at the same time this would return Minato's political power back and provide knowledge of the inner workings of Konoha he was unable to access as Naruto.

The many misgivings he had with Hiruzen's rule & decisions throughout this story could literally be resolved by Minato himself. If you could somehow pull a double life scenario with Minato resuming life as a Hokage and living as his son otherwise, or even simply just as Hokage that which would have been a super interesting perspective for the story to take. Yet he didn't, and so many bad things happened again just like they did in canon like Hizashi's death, the Uchiha massacre, and Danzo's continued existence, that could have, and should been avoided under Minato's rule, but because he didn't know enough, he couldn't do enough.

I know the villagers animosity to Naruto was a big turn off to his love for Konoha. But ...why did this shock this version of Minato so much, or at least be outside his understanding? if he was such a genius this reaction, although disappointing, really should have been anticipated. As a literal sealmaster, he should be well aware that what it means to seal a bijuu in a person is so little understood by the common layperson, that they might just misunderstand and maybe react badly. I know Hiruzen messed up too, like a lot, in many other ways in Naruto's life, but god, Minato! Forethought is forewarned! Which is something I always thought was his forte...

Anyhow, apologies for this long wall of critiques! I still really enjoyed your story as it was, but now that you decided to redo the rodeo, I thought my opinions on what I believe didn't really make sense the first time around, might be constructive. Regardless, now that you're more experienced as a writer I'm super excited about what you plan to do, no matter what it is!

Wow, i reread and enjoyed the entire fic up until this chapter, and then I see you are needlessly rewriting it, instead of continuing it.
I have enjoyed it a lot and found your minor changes very interesting, I really see no reason for you to feel bad about your epic tale. It does not need fixing, and I say that as a longtime, massive reader of naruto fanfic.
Cheer up and be proud of what you have done.

Just give Hiruzen a talking to. Make it clear that he is a shit Hokage. There is no proof? Who gives a fuck?! You're the bloody Hokage! Danzo is a danger to the village, just get rid of him! As Hokage it is his duty to protect the village. Eliminate the threat.

I really don't like that in many ways you're making him a Naruto clone. This interaction with Iruka is a great example. I don't feel the Minato you've created would connect to him. It was Naruto that was too eternally forgiving, not Minato.
But it's your story.

Dude i ate that whole fic in one go, it's so good. I love your portrayal of Minato and how you rewrote the story. It's all very clever and entenaining. I can't wait to read more!
