First off don't delete the original, that is how I found this version. Second, I'm not well versed in the series, the fact that it is basically a canon betrayal fic and Malty getting renamed Bitch kept me away, and I'm likely to still stay away. But I read a crossover and got curious and went looking for ones tagged for Malty, there is remarkably very little for her. Yours got my attention for being the only one to seemingly offer a redemption story for her.

I'm a sucker for redemption fics, though my interest has waned since most these days tend to be half-assed at best, and outright ignoring their past actions and handing them redemption on a silver platter at worst. You aren't doing that, even from these few chapters I can see that she will have to work for it, and it will not be easy. Especially when people aren't going to believe or trust her.

I am looking forward to to seeing where her path takes her

First let me say I'm happy you returning to this story as I was disappointed when I saw you stop after hearing other critical if your storyline, as fanfic should be about the writer as well as the reader.

The only issues I have with you story so far is with the slave crest which should not seen until she goes against the settings (attacking the heroes or her family)

Very strong opening, the dream sequence set up the gloomy mood well and also raises some intrigue on what caused those dreams, which makes me want to keep reading to find out more in follow up chapters.

Same goes for the main character Malty's action in the first scene, where she pretty much act exactly opposite of what we would expect from canon. Setting up more intrigues down the line on figuring out what made her having this completely 180 in attitude.

I personally am an atheist, so it's interesting to see how someone with strong religious background would do a redemption story with very different belief system as I.

You already know my original thoughts on the scenes adapted from your last story, so I won't repeat them here.

I personally still think the changes anime made to King and Malty's condemnation scene was bad and unneeded compared to the Web Novel original, but this really comes down to personal preference in the end.

Although I would like to say how the first scene set in present (future?) time add some additional value to the Malty's almost death from the ship crash. Since this story reveals her inner thought we get a really strong contrast to see how Malty's thought differ between the two timestamps. Further create more intrigue on me want to read more chapters to learn why and how she became the person she is in the present time.

I wonder if future chapter will also follow this fomula of how Malty recount her past experience to Father Donovan in the end, at least till the flashback catches up to present time? That's actually interesting and I certainly want to see more chapter like this, gives the story almost a grim-dark fairy tale vibe if that's what you are going for.

Overall the story started out very strong for your first version, and I think the added scenes for this new version added even more to it making it even better.

I like you're still going through with your original idea , but still change it a bit , by having Malty narrate her experience through a series of flashbacks .

I'm guessing Malty still gonna have amnesia , which I actually think is a good idea , because its a nice set up for drama later in the story . When Malty finally figures out who she is .

I think you should keep the original story up , since it gives us something to read in the meantime while waiting for the next chapter .

On that note , what exactly is your update schedule ? I'm honestly just curious .
