I love that Clay is genuinely invested in forging a relationship with Mikey that’s more than two people who are in each other’s lives so they might as well try to get along. He cares about Mikey like family, and he wants to be there for him and support him like a big brother, not just his sisters boyfriend or his dads ‘brother’. I like the thought of them having their own thing, and Clay being someone that Mikey can lean on.

It’s sad to think about how Clay doesn’t actually have anyone besides his dad seeing as we all assume that his grandparents are gone since we hear nothing of them when they’re the ones who raised him and his moms in the wind (or dead - idk? - though I’d love a story line where she pops up in his life after all these years because DRAMA). No aunts or uncles or cousins. Just Clay. I think that’s why Team being all the family you need is especially true for him. The team gave him his brothers and brought him and Emma into each other’s lives. That’s a pretty great payoff for all he probably had to go through to get to where he is now. Becoming a SEAL, enduring rigorous and intense training, showing he deserves to be there, proving he’s not like his dad, making it to the best tier one team. Now it’s just like Adam said, he’s got all the family he needs.

Another adorable chapter, but also educational! I now know about the various uses of paracord and it’s abundance in the US Military thanks to google. That would be a really cute thing for them to do too, him giving her the paracord he keeps on his wrist whenever he leaves to deploy and she keeps it on her until he gets back. Or vice versa. Apparently when troops get bored they can also use it for arts and crafts, making little keychains and bracelets, and when they need them they just snap the plastic and unwind it. When Emma and Clay have kids they can keep them on them too as a reminder. Paracord for everyone! (You get paracord, you get paracord)

I may be letting this get away from me a bit, but it’s still a cute thought. Lol

This was the sweetest little chapter, I loved seeing Emma and Clay talk more about his life before Emma and would love to see a chapter similar to this about Emma and her mom. I think it would be so cute to see a similar perspective on how some of the things that Emma and her mom did shaped who she is as a person in contrast to Clay and his grandparents.
