Reviews for To Sever the Lining from a Cloud |
---|
woobienation chapter 1 . 10/2/2019 This is such a lovely, poetic one-shot. Snape's lurking, self-aware, secretive love feels just right, and I love the wrap-up lines about "clouds of glory" and "cloud of Vengeance." |
DelphiPsmith chapter 1 . 10/27/2014 Oh, this made me cry... a lovely but bittersweet story, with such creative original magic. And I like James in this, his ability to set aside his jealousy and recognize the love that inspired such a gift. But poor Sev, never to know that she received it. Kudos! |
waddiwasiwitch chapter 1 . 9/14/2014 This was so very wonderful. |
Hylia'grace chapter 1 . 3/28/2013 This was so beautifully written Poor sev And I like how you showed james pitying serverus It may have been out of character but I prefer it to the abnoxious and cruel james that people are used to I really love how you wrapped it up with lily wearing parts of the cloud lining afterwards Its by far the best snape one shot I've read |
Sean chapter 1 . 8/27/2012 Bravo! Beautiful fairy tale. Oh, wait, I just noticed there are more chapters. Wow. |
dusty old books chapter 1 . 8/6/2012 Sometimes I wish Harry Potter was never completed. This is a beautiful story. You should be proud. |
Voronwen chapter 1 . 7/13/2012 I join everyone else who has reviewed in praising the story, the elegance of the wording, and the brilliance of the idea that became the tale. What I like best about this, even though all these years later, that some of the characterization and character history doesn't match up with canon, is that this version of Snape is utterly believeable. In fact, I like your Snape far better than the shallow characterization he ended up with in canon. :-) Finally, during this re-read, I caught the implication that Lily was wearing the cloud dress when Voldemort came to Godric's Hollow; that it was the reason that Harry survived the Killing Curse-the thread of good come out of calamity. If we opened Lily's grave, would we find that she'd been buried in it? Thank you for sharing your visions, your talent, your words with us. Well done! |
aalens chapter 1 . 6/23/2012 I can certainly understand why this fic won those awards - it is an outstandingly good story, original, and it has the ever-to-be-remembered quality of a classic fairytale |
cinamonie chapter 1 . 3/10/2012 This was lovely. I loved how Severus worked hard and failed at the end. It could have certainly been canon! It would explain his bitterness and devotion to the late Lily. I also liked that James was portrayed as somewhat petty under his reasoning of "never breaking his promise of 'not to tell'." Ingenious! Good job. Definitely one good read. |
ThatPerson chapter 1 . 11/27/2011 The worst I can say is that the characters don't align with their respective portrayals in the novels, which is hardly a criticism seeing as this was posted 11 years ago. It's occasionally difficult to follow, more because it's not written in front of me than actual clarity. Other than that? You manage to hit the full spectrum of emotions and make something that's altogether enjoyable to read. Well done. |
YenGirl chapter 1 . 7/29/2011 *blinks away tears* A love like no other, truly. It lent that already poignant scene in the last movie so much depth. Utterly beautiful. |
Cascaper chapter 1 . 3/11/2011 Gosh, I feel like a broken record, reviewing each of the stories you've written with some variant of "this is one of the best things I've ever read in my history of reviewing, ever." But it's true. A dress made from the lining of a cloud! A cloud! This is so beautiful! And true to character, as we knew the characters when this was written. You are elevated to the status of all-but-Rowling in my fanfiction ratings. |
Quil Explodes chapter 1 . 12/31/2010 this is beautiful...that's all I can seem to say, it blew me away. So otherworldly and yet, when you talked about the ratings, perfectly grounded in reality...just humorous enough and universal and again beautiful. |
Nazgurl chapter 1 . 8/31/2010 This was beautiful. Completely different from anything I've read, but it has that humorous, tragic feel that embodies Severus Snape. Absolutely breathtaking. And how on earth did you come up with this? |
TuesdayNovember chapter 2 . 7/7/2010 That was absolutely brilliant. Beautifully written and very poetic. |
