I like how you described how Thordan's troops using their spears.

Skuli saves Thordan's life in the midst of the battle! That was nice of him;) I imagine they're going to be quite chummy from now on! Although, I can't remember from ARR if there were any scenes with Old Thordan and Skuli interacting.

A very nice chapter, we finally meet old thordans wife, and she apparently has similar interests as he does...I sure hope that Abelard is far away from her for a long time before she’s pregnant with Lorelei. And erlend and Becker’s mother seems like an interesting character. Shame they both grew up without a father. But Blanche seems like a very sweet mother. Plus she and thordan seem to have a close but platonic relationship, which is unique and interesting.
I love your set up of Knuds character, I think it’s a perfect introduction to a future villain. You said you liked arcana better then arr and I can see why. The character introductions are smooth and easy, and the world is a million times more comprehensible. Keep up the great work. Only two chapters left.

Wait... Thordan is just giving his wife away to Abelard? Just like that? And it doesn't seem like there are any strings attached or anything... Well, it seems that they both didn't even really love each other in the first place. They both seemed pretty chill with the idea of her marrying Abelard. But from what I've seen, it doesn't seem like they *hate* each other, so at least there's that.

Abelard intrigues me... Mainly because I'm curious why he hasn't appeared in ARR. Maybe he'll manage to wiggle his way in there in the ARRemastered, but I dunno... It shall prove to be interesting.

So Thordan just found out that he's a seer. Also interesting. Poor chap, there are so many rules for magic-wielders that he doesn't know yet. XD

Poor Thordan... He can't even have a proper bath without being interrupted. I feel like Thordan's relationship with his subjects is pretty realistic. Many dislike the way he runs things, others love him, and yet others would like his head on a platter. And speaking of heads, it seems that good ol' Garmund is trigger-happy (Or handle-happy? Whatever) tp use his. :P
[Let the kid have his fun.] Hmm... That's sound like a rather dark foreshadowing. Thordan will have to grow-up one day, and I fear that it might be sooner than he would prefer...

Abelard! Well what do ya know...
I think one character that fascinates me so far is Prince Garmund. He seemed rather different in ARR, more... serious and eager to swipe of heads with his axe. I mean, he probably still is like that in Arcana, but, I dunno. It's fun seeing them all so young.

Otto resignation... It seems that in the ARRverse, nobody, and I mean nobody, what's that crown. Except those who definitely shouldn't however. :P

Nice! That’s an, awfully blunt way of introducing thordan to magic lol. But it was funny. It was nice seeing Matoya defend herself from the desserters, good seeing those dishonorable traitors electrocuted. Even more so then the ones in beowulf being exiled. Heh, nice to see skuli being his typical self, and how unique he is for doubting magic. I only wonder, how? Does this world have magicians(illusionists, not conjurers) and skuli knows their tricks? Or is he simply in denial cause he prides himself on no superstition? It’d be nice to have that developed in future chapters by a tad bit. I also like the pace you introduce the characters, very smooth. It’s nice to see that thordan has a close friendship with this prince Garmund, and that his grandson had the similar personality. I also like how you introduced thordans affinity for vermin maidens, and how it’s looked down upon by others. You also very effectively set up the plot in the first few chapters. Matoya is a conjurer rat who’s escaped her order and traveled to an alternate world, were she must team up with a charismatic king who’s dealing with a war. Meanwhile she’s being hunted by her former order. May have went too too fast, or maybe it’s just something different. Plus it’s kinda funny how skulis technically one of the first to learn about magic, though, maybe his memories blurred like sigruns currently is. Anyway, a very decent chapter. Keep up the great work!

Ooh! And we get to see Matoya again. And now she's teamed up with Thordan and company (I must say, it's rather weird seeing the name "Thordan", when I know that the Thordan that we all know and love is...not even born yet. XD).

I'm also sensing a pattern in the chapter titles. No doubt intentional. Just something random that I felt like pointing out. XD

The "dancers" seem very interesting creatures! I for one, would not want to find oneXD

The ending of this chapter is so intense! If only the ratmaid would've waited a moment more to hear what he had said...Although who knows if it would've even made a difference at that point.

I like how we get to see all of the "old" characters in ARR as youth. I liked how you wrote this battle sequence, with the importance of specific weapons and such.
So Skuli saved Old/Young Thordan's life, eh? I wonder... Maybe that's how the little vermin got so powerful in ARR.

An action-packed second chapter and a great start to the sequel... a part of me prefers this to the first chapter to be honest XD It's neat seeing all of the characters as younger versions of themselves. Garmund is a prince here, not a king. Skuli is a nobody. Triel and Southwards are working together... Very different times apparently. Some nice lines of humour and dialogue here and there as well. I am particularly fond of the extended sword gag. Who uses swords in battle? Other than the Jaysians... Hollywood heroes I guess but unfortunately Thordan's enemies don't have the same amount of plot armour.
I am a huge fan of the action here, but another draw of this chapter is seeing Old Thordan as a younger creature. He has some of his grandson's awkwardness, I'll give him that, but handles it much better. It's pretty easy to see how he became king. The otter has charisma in spades. Even when he trips over himself he still manages to spin the subject round. He's quite fun to read, but charismatic characters often are.

I loved the present and waycaster! Thank you so much! I love these chapters, Matoya seems like an interesting character, and it’s great to see old thordan...well...the opposite of old. So he and skuli met? Neat, now his grandson and Skulis son are friends, though now they’re going through issues. I like skulis character in this and how he gets a promotion, a rare happening for peasants. Also I love the battle descriptions! Makes you flinch in pain(oooh...cross bow in the groin!) and also feel suspense. I loved it! It shows great promise. May your heart and mind be your guiding key!

Ah. Very good job, Waycaster. Matoya seems like an interesting chappie. I wonder where she runs away to... Is she in ARR by any chance? (I can't remember, but I'm sure I will if I see her name again.)

I hope we can see more of the characters that you introduced in this one-shot. Especially that battle-axe swingin' badger. XD

This seems more intense than ARR with the badger getting capped right in the beginning, and it also seems like Matoya is going down the wrong path.
