I am confused why not have the spear absorb the food? A single egg could make an egg shell spear, and egg white spear, and an egg yolk spear, you could then make an egg spear, a scrambled egg spear, a sunny side up egg spear, a pouched egg spear, and a large number of other spears with a number of other eggs and that is just eggs you could do the same for other foods. You could make a cooking spear that gave permanent bonuses to your stats when you eat them depending on the food, or health and mana recovery. The power ups are endless. Another useful spear would be a skinning and demebering spear for letting you make many creature easily separate into parts for easy absorbing later.
