this was pretty interesting, Smoker wouldn't just join pirates and if he was betrayed by those he served, put up for execution he'd likely accept it because what else can he do, cuffed and paraded around like a traitor. But having his men risk their career and lives just to get him out, with the promise from Luffy that the Marines WILL change when he's the King (its hard not to believe he will be when he gets that Look in his eyes), that would certainly be enough for him to agree to become a pirate.

Though I see him being more rough during fights with other pirates than marines (unless he has no choice but to go all out). He'll still believe in justice, will still carry it out, and will be surprised to find that his new crew are standing right beside him, without threats or prompting needed. Not all pirates are scum, he'll find.

Its an interesting AU, with good characterization. Even if its only snippets and random scenes, I'll certainly be looking forward to more.

This is actually great! And I could definitely see this happening after Akainu(?) takes control as fleet admiral. I mean if they are executing him for his brand of justice, doesn’t that mean that Garp should be executed too?

has anyone ever done something like this? seriously? I have no clue. I've never seen one. this is such a great idea with a great start! especially how EARLY he's put in! though that makes sense, bc I dont see how else he could join unless it was divergent or after the 2 years.

There are so many things that could change for the better with Smoker in the crew this early on...
And at the same time, maybe some additional hardships. But I imagine they'd still be more equipped to handle them than in canon with Smoker's help.
