Reviews for Legacy Of The Past
Loco15 chapter 3 . 9/4
Rather interesting story. I love monster girls, don't get me wrong, but I'm always happy when I see a story that will potentially bitch slap the worst aspects of the setting, like all the mindbreak, brainwashing, body change, kidnapping, and all the thousand and one ways in which humanity is fucked, its government corrupt, or otherwise wholly incompetent.

And the story, while nice, does have a some rather glaring faults, like the fact that most of it feels like exposition monologues and rather dry conversations. It takes away much of the excitement and joy of reading, and almost feels like reading a dictionary.

And why does the demon lord apparently birth all kinds of monsters? I though she was a succubus, not an echidna. And Druella kinda feels like she is an insecure teenager? I never really read fallen maidens or anything, but the wiki rather gives the feeling she is the most debauched and perverted succubus there is, intent on mamono conquest and turning everything into a dark demon realm, whatever means or obstacles be dammed?

Overall, I'm rather rooting for what in most circumstances would be the evil team, that being the former demon lord and the necromancers (I have always thought necromancer were awesome, but the ones in this setting kinda suck). Its kinda hard to explain why, though. I mean, a lot of mamono are not all that bad, and while the demon lord's methods are very debatable, her intentions, ultimately, are good. It's just that her methods and humanity's helplessness irks me to no end.

The verse tries very hard to paint the mamono's as the good guys and the Order as the evil ones, but the monsters are waaaaay to rapey and stuff for me to root for the vast majority of them. It doesn't help that, despite how corrupt and trigger happy (for lack of a better term) the Order is, they are pretty much the whole reason that humanity is not quite on the brick of extinction yet, like the dwarves, which effectively stopped being their own species and turned into monsters.

I just, like, want humanity to get its shit together, organize, not have every hero get disappointed in their lives/the order and switch teams, and maybe mount an effective, not easily brushed aside counter offensive, or failing that, an effective defense.

So, yeah. That is why I'm here. Because, while arguably the darker shade of black of the factions, the forces portrayed in this story seem like they're itching to kick the shit out of the stuff that bothers me the most.

Maybe my happy ending would be a three way stalemate? The mamono not quite wiped out, but their main forces too distracted with the more monstrous faction to continue their advances on the humans, with the humans, now with some breathing room and dealing with stuff they are more used to, recovering a little, all in a delicate balance.
The Impossible Muffin chapter 3 . 6/9
The only issue I can find with this fic so far, is that Mamono don't give birth to males ever, and I think that would be a good talking point for the traditional monsters.
ManwithaPlan113 chapter 3 . 4/30
Glad I’m not the only one to peer deeper into Monstergirl after the initial “Oh damn exactly lewd material” to “To what the fuck man”

Like some of it’s lowkey kind of messed up or just downright pretentious
Mr. What If chapter 2 . 3/31
I’m not going to lie, I think valor belief on the original cycle is nothing but hypocrisy. He believes the new cycles will end humanity, isn’t the old the cycle the same. Because one day, the demon lord will win and enslaves and kill all of humanity? Valor is acting he isn’t the bad guy and believes the order are the good guy. Does he know that the order is corrupted and are tyrants, which is why many of its people sided with the demon lord?

Also, not all monster are evil or forced themselves on the men. We have the cyclops, Kistune, lizardman, mermaid, Inari, and Kikimora. There humans who are happy with the new demon lord.

Finally, not all monster girls are sides with the demon lord. For instance, the nation of Zipangu is a neutral state and isn’t sided with either the demon lord or the order. Both monster and humans coexist.

I’m not trying to be negative, I’m just seeing the flaw on valor philosophy on the old cycle. Because the both are same. Humanity fight to prevent the extinction of humanity. Both fight the demon lord, both kill monster, and both are helping humanity.
Curse of Whimsy chapter 3 . 3/30
Druella keeps getting more interesting, I like how she was seeking answers rather than just comfort, though it made sense that at some point, she just wanted a hug from Mommy and Daddy.

Arthur and Lilith's justifications in rang a little hollow, which is fitting. Arthur is still a traitor to humanity, and Lilith is just a different kind of evil.

But damn, I like Xerfaaroc, he's a witty son of a bitch.
Fish on Land chapter 3 . 3/30
That's a pretty novel take on the setting's backstory. Yet as far as I can tell, it still makes sense.

The goldfish and burnt toast was hilarious.
Shadowgtz chapter 2 . 2/27
Very Good

I always like seeing fanfics in worlds... like this abomination. Not humans from modern day showing up (even though that rarely happens) and stomping out the opposition. But it happening in the world and showing the reality of it all, of just how horrendous everything is. It’s really pick your poison for your average human, either live under tyrants with religion keeping you all stagnant or lose your humanity and be forced to enjoy carnal pleasures til the day you die.

I’m sticking around for now. Let’s see how this goes.

Hmm, it's a little surprising to have the hyper radical Druella being the one partially swayed by the words of another. Not a complaint, though, the dialogue was very well handled.

Very curious to see where Valor goes from here, I like his character a lot as the righteously minded but not exactly scrupulous crusader. His flaws and inconsistencies only make him more interesting.

This is an interesting take on the MGE setting. I like your explanations for why Lilith could become Demon Lord and the original Chief God is no longer around.

If there's one criticism I have to make, it's that the four necromancers don't really click with me. I think it's because they, unlike the other OCs, come from another world (or worlds?) and therefore remind me of those crossover fics where one side stomps the other. An example of this is Vaskul saying that they won't wage open war on Lilith because it's not worth their time, implying that they could do so if they wanted.
Guest chapter 1 . 11/18/2019
Very rare for a mge fic to take place before the current demon lord. I, sir, am intrigued.

Interesting little story you got running here. I’ll stick around to see how it goes. Liking it so far though.
