First: I'm loving the story so far and hope it gets update or continues at some point :

Second: I have no clue why his goal is supporting them, I mean I can understand doing that as a friend but I mean he should try to be the best he can be.

Third: Misty told our young MC what her Pokemon were in Chapter 5, and now they do it again one chapter later?

(Misty glanced at me and held up two Pokeballs. "I only own these two, Goldeen and Staryu. But I have trained with all of my sisters' water type Pokemon as well. And I want to catch a bunch more."

I smiled at her. "That's awesome. You definitely have a big advantage against me. I started with a Charmander and I caught a Nidoran the other day. Your water Pokemon would be super tough, I bet.")

I have a couple of Pokemon that would be good picks for Daniel's team: If Daniel does get a magicarp that would be okay but, Misty does eventually get a Gyarados in the future. for a water type, I would consider slowpoke because so everyone has a different set of Pokemon. Also Misty does eventually get a poliwag which evolves into Poliwhirl.

Here's a cool idea I researched. I found out that Gary in the anime catches and uses a Magmar on his team in the Johto league. So I think it would be a cool idea to add an Electabuzz to Daniel's team and a Jynx to Leaf's team. I chose these Pokemon because the three Pokemon get baby forms in Johto and it will be a nice reference.
Anyway keep up the good work. This is so far my favorite Pokemon Self insert story

I'm not in aggrement with Daniel's analyse of himself VS others.

He clearly has more potential than Ash and Leaf. Gary, I'm not sure, because arrogant or not, he is still a serious pokemon trainer with a lot of Oak tips under his belt. Leaf seems serious and relatively good but I don't see her as having more potential than Daniel. And Ash, let's be honest, he has never been that good of a trainer, and most of the time, he won because of the power of friendship or worst, the plot armor, he rarely won in a really legit way. Proof being with his "league" record. Not glorious.

Honestly Daniel seems to be the strongest in term of potential with Gary as a rival, Leaf just behind him, and Ash in last.

I hope it's a shit tier Pokémon, keeping in line with the slow burn nature of the story so far. Maybe Magikarp, like you foreshadowed. But that would eventually give Daniel a Gyarados. So maybe not.

What's your approach to writing Pokémon speech? Randomly, or are you choosing syllables to represent things? Or something else entirely?

For what it's worth, I don't mind that Daniel and Leaf are still with Misty and Ash. It's only been a couple days in narrative, and your six chapters aren't 10k words each. It feels like they could diverge, but not straight away because it wouldn't make any sense.

I really like the slice of life approach to this. Like, the destination and the battling isn't the important part. It's the journey that takes you there.

Hmm... this is a pretty good story so far. Plenty of things to make it unique amongst other anime based fics. If I had to guess, I'd say that the pokemon Daniel will catch will be either a Horsea or a Poliwag. Why? I really don't know. Poliwag is the first thing that came to mind and I just really like the Horsea evolution line lol.
I'll be keeping an eye on this fic. I look forward to more!
