After I read the description of Hiccup’s scars I thought, “No wonder he wears the mask.” Apparently, the others, besides Gobber, never saw that part of Hiccup’s face before.
Btw, I don’t think this is badly written at all.

I totally feel you about the quarantine thing. I find having something else going on in the background to occasionally distract me helps the motivation. Other than that very well written with a small problem of their when it should be it's.
