I love how you did this one and from Mamoru's perspective because I feel like really one of the huge points of Sailor Moon is to turn those "traditional" roles and tales on their heads. Usagi was the one saving him (heck she saved everyone a few hundred times lol), and he was the one always supporting her through everything. I do so love that headcanon of Mamoru taking her name and becoming Protector of the Moon!

I loved how this chapter just explored that aspect of their relationship, what his role was and how he watched her from the sidelines and how she faced everything! It's never actually talked about, just showcased and I love this weird sense of validation I'm having after reading this, like it's FINALLy put into words this perfect balance in their relationship and how much he admires her and loves her.

I LOVED this scene in canon! The comedic value was prime and I can't believe you're so nailing these canon scenes and making them your own! Totally retelling the scene in such amazing ways! The angst, "Ami is secretly a cyborg. Only explanation." I love that cuz Ami was going to be cyborg in the manga originally. Little easter egg! And I love how once she says it's the same place, he runs up to her to reassure her, to kiss her and tell her that it'll never happen. "He didn't leave after that. He walked her to Hikawa and the girls and their study group, and stayed to explain what he could." I LOVE THAT HE WENT WITH AND HELPED!

Also, sidebar, I saw on one of your recent asks when you were doing that Tumblr fanfic ask game and you said that this kiss series was your least favorite thing you've written and I completely understand how and why you feel that way. But I wanted to tell you that this was one of my favorite things you've done! Sometimes, I go back to certain kisses because of the way they make me feel. When I'm stressed or when I'm lonely (which happens a lot now obviously), it makes me feel something and I need that during those times. So I know you don't like your kiss series but I SOO, REALLY appreciate the series and I'm sure there's other people who do too! Thank you so much for doing this series and I know it was hard finishing it but thank you for sharing all these beautiful moments. Each one is more breathtaking/hilarious/fluffy/angsty than the last and I love this collection of gifts so much. You continue to kill us with POST-STARS?! The atmosphere and setting you created with the rain and the silence is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and so powerful. (You ROCK at these soft, bed, cuddly moments that literally make me want to melt in my blankets lol) And what really caught my breath is how Mamoru answered the question, his answer was so spot-on and amazingly true about Usagi and I looooovveeeeee it. Even though she sucks at cactus duty (also that made me laugh how he gave Mako the plants lol), Mamoru knows that there is no one better to be a leader than her.

"I wonder if the world deserves you. I'm terrified it will exploit you. Tear you down." That was honestly so beautifully heartbreaking girlll! "I'll try my best to protect you all the way, Usako," he whispered, his lips remaining on that spot. "I promise." Oh my god why am I putting my heart through this at midnight. This was so soft, those touches of angst, but it leaves you feeling so reassured oddly, like, us, the reader is Usagi and I love it!
