I have no preference for number of words- write as many as you feel is right for that chapter.
I've done shorter chapters and long ones depending on what I am trying to get across. If you think less words is the right fit, then do less. If you feel more words are needed, then write more.

Your version of Madara-Menma is unsual but somewhat so fit into Madara past. His relationship with Naruto, how he rise him as a brother very touched me. As Madara himsefl said, it's simmilar weigth of family for Uzumaki and Uchiha. Scene in with Kushina, the whole emoction, just next Kabuto and return to business, really great. I am curious how would look like action between Menma and Kakashi? :o Also I really like rain reflection and of course Sakura.

Ah, Sakura appears! I really liked that madara isn’t playing the knight in shining armor, he doesn’t even consider it, even when he recognizes Sakura. And only praise he has is for Tsunade for changing Sakura so much. Btw, I think he should recognize Sakura’s own input in her growth as well. Hmm... maybe for someone who values power like madara does, her growth would be something appealing, attention-worthy... Even if he cares about end results only, and not the path, still Forth-ninja-war-Sakura was maybe the strongest kunoichi around.

Whenever I see Madara parenting Naruto, I cannot help but think about Izuna. He must have been a really good older brother. Btw what age do you intend madara and Naruto to be? They act very... mature.

Cool omake. It started in such a unpleasant way, with ?Mito being a real bitch, but then it turns out that she isn’t, not at all. And Madara gets a happy moment, so precious. But what was she saying when it got it got interrupted?

The story is really good. As for how many words... Well as many as you can write.

somewhere in the middle of the chapter, I had this impression that I've read it already, and I wondered if I clicked on a wrong chapter... then I went to check, and realized that it's basically same events than in ch3, but from Madara's perspective. Both POV were entertaining in their own way: Naruto's for that hilarious perspective of clueless toddler, and Madara's because we learn much more about his motives, plus some worldbuilding.
That being said, I'm not sure if on this stage of the story (build-up, not much happening) it is necessary to have 2 POVs. The side effect of having 2 POV is that the story basically stands in one place for another chapter. While it is super valuable to have second POV when drama (esp emotional one), mysteries and exclusive knowledge available to one character are involved, then maybe... not necessary now...? (btw, I'm totally stepping in much vilified nowadays territory of concrit here. If you don't want it, please let me know, and I apologize in advance)

I liked Madara's point of view on many things: like he isn't devastated about Kushina and Minato's death (like a real child would have been), how he notices Danzo's machinations. Cool to see an adult brain at works, and I'm looking forward to see his intellect confronted with people's preconceived notions about what a child can and cannot understand. That will be joy :)

I'm curious about alternative timeline in this story: was Kyubi attack really a natural disaster here? Or was is Obito that has been trained by old Madara?

Great idea with Danzo, Kagami and Torifu being Hashi's team! Great, great idea! Btw, that puts Danzo suddenly in completely different light. Maybe he was the one who was intended by Hashi as a successor? And Sarutobi was only Tobirama's choice?

About chapter length - I don't think there is a set wordcount. But I think a chapter should be a self-concise package of sorts, with thematic beginning and end. I usually have the story mostly written when i publish, and then I read it and divide the existing text into parcels that "fit together". Idk if that's any help if you're publishing as you write, though... And for the record: for me personally anything longer than 5k is an instant turn off - I don't have that much time...

I hope Madara doesn't hate Naruto. He was just bad with kid in general :'D
