Reviews for RWBY: Destiny of Remnant Fall Special
Cosmic Fiction chapter 3 . 11/1/2019
Damn, I always love it when someone goes as dark as I like to from time to time :D
This was really intense, I liked it, the Stephen King inspiration was really well done, and I liked that starting quite from Ray Bradbury, very nice touch there.
Great job with this, man.
Keep it up!
RelentlessCrusader chapter 3 . 10/29/2019
Wow, this is quite a terrifying story which would definitely be perfect for a Stephen King's novel. The various creepy and terrifying scenes are really well-written and as the story goes along it does show that things are not what they seem and the hand of the Grimm Mistress is pulling behind everything and can easily come and go as she pleases.

The overall story sure reveals a lot of things, especially about how Salem comes about and how she became that insidious character seen in RWBY DoR. Luc Arc is also quite interesting, as we see him wrestling with his guilt over his actions in a previous war and the thought of his Team members dying one by one kind of reminds me of the Court of Owls from the Batman series.

Ozma (this version at least) is a relatively lucky person, all things considered. He at least survived but I'm not sure the psychological scars would fade in time since he came face to face with Salem. I hope we meet him again...either in a flashback or maybe in future chapters.

The horror of the term "necessary sacrifice" is seen here, and we now know how well that panned out for Salem and Luc Arc. Looks like the price to pay for defeating the previous Grimm Queen with her legions of Grimm was very high, since it involved the sacrifice of all Four Maidens plus many other brave warriors in order to wrestle that hard-won victory from the jaws of defeat.

It also seems to me that this version of Salem isn't above disguising herself in order to blend in among humanity and such to torment her victims, and also the eventual reveal of the Dreameater Elder Grimm struck a scare chord with me as well. It was there only briefly, but the horrifying ways it torment its victims was definitely intensely terrifying.

Well, Jaune did warn them at first so they have to live with the knowledge of Luc Arc's haunting now. I hope the heroes eventually find a way to eliminate Salem once and for all when the time comes.
Cosmic Fiction chapter 2 . 10/28/2019
This was a fun read.
The Scooby-ness was strong in this, really enjoyable and creepy and the same time. Nice work.
And Zwei... you are a lovely baby :D
Kerlongsj Evert Orlejov chapter 3 . 10/28/2019
Well, this indeed one hell of a story. I have read and written stories where things go sideways and someone's slowly drains off to the dark. But what the hell?

This is not just a horror story, this is so much worse. This is one way to see where and how Salem came into existence and the effects it had on those surrounding her and who paid the price. In the end, Ozma made it out alive although I don't know if you can see that as a good thing.

Jaune warned them and they did not listen. It even sends now a chill down my spine. I kinda hoped on bigger sleep overs but hey, you take what you get. I do have to admit that you wrote an excellent chapter and I apologize that I took a while but I got busy.

RelentlessCrusader chapter 2 . 10/17/2019
I finally got around to reading this chapter, and I must say I love the Scooby Doo-esque adventure Team RWBY has gotten themselves into, and Zwei is such an adorable Corgi as well.

Nice to see the original characters featured in this story are named after people involved in the Scooby Doo franchise, and it's fitting since they gave the inspiration for this wonderful halloween story as well.

It's a welcome break from the Apathy story that featured Team CFVY, and I love how you have managed to keep all four members of Team RWBY in character throughout the chapter. Love their interactions and character moments too, especially Ruby and Yang most of all.

I also noticed some Easter eggs here and there, and I also like how the final reveal was shown, and having an invisibility Semblance sure is handy huh? And looks like the Whittington family has found a way to reverse their fortunes, and I must say it's about time their luck changes for the better.

Looking forward to the third story...which I'm sure would be quite terrifying.
Kerlongsj Evert Orlejov chapter 2 . 10/16/2019
You did an interesting take. Very much a tribute to a good cartoon generations have enjoyed plus some people from a good while.

Zwei, where are you? Now, it makes sense. Unlike CFVY who had a real ghost on their backs and a real spooky story, RWBY had to deal with smoke and mirrors. A very elaborate scheme thought out with a good legend but a rational ending.

Not going into detail there but damn, was this a fun chapter to read. A goo amount of scheming thought out with a good bit of, how do I say this, Easter Eggs? Nice writing you got there yourself man.

Put your works in this background. What money can't cause people to do. In any case, I liked this bit. And I only read it just now. Days at work. And perfect time to read. Bad weather.

RelentlessCrusader chapter 1 . 10/7/2019
Thank you UGX7, for this wonderful Fall Special. I enjoyed the various stories featured so far, and I hope to read more in future!

Thank you CosmicFiction, for this amazing RWBY DoR alternate world version of RWBY: After The Fall featuring Team CFVY in the roles featured in the Apathy story!

And now onto the first segment of the Fall Special...

I enjoyed the holiday segment very much, and since Remnant is very much like Earth I'm sure there would be some very similar festivals, and apparently the Fall Equinox is the equivalent of Halloween on Remnant. It's nice to see the cast letting their hair down and enjoying the festival itself, dressed in the various scary costumes and going trick-and-treating! Love Higher Demons from The Knights of Grimm reference, and I am breathing in relief that they are an animated series and NOT the real thing we saw in the CosmicFiction's stories.

Is it me or does Team CFVY's story with Brunswick farm and Alcyone's Nightmare has some influence taken from "The Shining", especially with the little red ball part? I especially love the creepy and subtly terrifying atmosphere when Team CFVY arrived at Brunswick farm and slowly discovers that something was wrong. While it was certainly based upon Volume 6 of the RWBY show, we did see significant differences and how the different members of Team CFVY (the majority of which is heavily influenced from RWBY: After the Fall's portrayal of their personalities and quirks) react to the disappearance of the Brunswick's family. Being someone who had watched their fair share of horror movies, I do appreciate how you and CosmicFiction have managed to show the eventual appearance of the Apathy Grimm and how Coco, Fox, Velvet and Yatsuhashi react to them and eventually countered the terrifying Grimm species using their own unique abilities.

It was definitely a close shave for all of them, and I do like how Team CFVY affirmed their roles as Huntsmen and Huntresses and how they had instead strengthened their bonds in the aftermath of Volume 3's fallout. I also noticed near the end of the story, a certain Guardian of the Dead made a cameo appearance as well...and it's a small blessing that Alcyone and the rest of her family can finally rest in peace.

So our heroes and heroines got out alive, the vineyard owner got his comeuppance, and the Brunswick family is avenged (not that they aren't in the wrong as well)...so all in all, the good guys won another victory. And thanks for explaining that tiny bit about the Apathy, it does clear up a question of mine.

An excellent start, looking forward to Team RWBY and Zwei pull a Scooby Doo-esque story off next chapter!
GojiGrimlockSaurus chapter 1 . 10/5/2019
I frankly think the girl is creepier than anything in the Brunswick family farm. Even the Apathy don't give me the amount of goosebumps that Alcyone does. For whatever reason, whether it is Japanese or American ghost stories, female ghosts, particularly of young girls, seem more sinister and unnerving to both read and watch than male ghosts. I cannot put it exactly why.

Anyways, your description of her presence and the tapping sounds of the red ball really did a good job in establishing as an entity I would be very wary of she suddenly appeared next to me. I got to give kudos to your excellent storytelling. Even reading of actually what happened to her that made her a tragic ghost, I still can't shake this unnerved feeling I have about her when reading the story again.

I am just happy that Alcyone and her family finally got the rest and closure they really deserved after being tormented and killed by the zombie-like/Slenderman-like Grimm creatures. Not to mention being deceived by the previous vineyard owner, who was too haste and shortsighted in his decision to not be forthright about his property when he sold it to them.

Yeah I’m going to enjoy this holiday special like I did with the summer one. Love that the Apathy where brought back this way. Those episodes of season 6 where my favorite. Can’t wait to see the RWBY pull a Scooby Doo.
Kerlongsj Evert Orlejov chapter 1 . 10/3/2019
This is going to be fun. And damn, it is great to read Halloween. Although it is not my favorite holiday as we don’t really celebrate it.

As for the whole thing. The Knights of Grimm. Seriously, UGX7? That one. Okay. I know where you got it from. A group of anti-heroes from a popular and acclaimed animated series. Sure. I found it great.

With the dress up. That was fun indeed. You certainly got a lot of fun doing those. It is something that I would be a bore at. As for the whole thing here. That was fun.

One hell of a story. Sure. I couldn’t help but just read it all over in one go. It’s about CFVY after Beacon went down. Chilly if you ask me.
That little girl is scary. I don’t think that if you found a boy in that situation it wouldn’t be as creepy. Weird if you think about it.

Should have seen the Apathy. Damn me. That was one scary story. I wonder what the others will be like.
Saluut.
Cosmic Fiction chapter 1 . 10/3/2019
Awesome work! Loved writing this short story with the Apathy, I really liked the changes that you made as well. Really helped make the atmosphere that bit more unnerving.
Can't wait to see what comes next!
