Agreed! I kept thinking this, too! WHY wouldn't Ladybug just go to Alya and tell her that Lila's lying? Seems obvious, especially for Mari, who always sees all the angles! Pfft! This was an adorable fix-it fic! Loved it! Hope there'll be more like this! 3

I found it understandable actually. Her not debunking Lila as Ladybug, no matter the timing, makes sense from her biased pov.

For one, she'd be worried about whether she is being objective in her decision to use her hero persona like that. Marinette works very hard to be as professional as possible. She cannot really be anything but strong, so she inevitably second-guesses herself. And considering there's also the danger of her "celebrity crush" getting out, she'd be naturally wary.

For another, during the Volpina incident, Marinette had better things to worry about, and afterward, since Lila didn't return to school, it must have seemed not worth it.

And after her return, Lila had spread so much misinformation already (thank you, Alya!) it's very much a possibility she could mask anything Ladybug says as a falling out between friends.

In truth, the onus in the Lila matter is entirely on Tikki, who with her vast experience should be a better guide for Marinette and should be able to come up with a million ideas on what to do about her. I am incredibly salty about Tikki in S3.

But those are all in-universe explanations.

The truth is, if Ladybug had dealt with the matter so early so well, we would have no civilian evil antagonist for Ladybug. The writers would have to actually put more effort into writing a better antagonist. And that's preposterous. Why do that when you can have lazy writing and an antagonist who is only a mishmash of every bad guy trope ever? And if anyone complains, use the "It's a kids show!" excuse.

Interesting idea. Never thought of it this way, and now that I think of it, that could've stopped Lie-la's crap once and for all. But meh, I like everything the way it is. Keep up the good work.
