PrisonBreakFan08 chapter 1 . 1/30 Finally reading and reviewing this story! Beautifully written. Loved the use of the lyrics throughout the fic and Darvey dancing together over the years! And Donna and Harvey dancing with their little girl at the end was just perfect :) |
raffertypaulsen chapter 1 . 10/14/2019 I know I'm a million years late on this and I'm so sorry for that! But I can say that after our sad shipping disaster tonight I was in need of some fluffy comfort and the first thing that came to mind was this fic, so I'm finally here to give it the love it deserves! Perfect wasn't one of my favourite songs before we saw it in 910, but after you used it so *perfectly* to tell Darvey's story it just might be! And wow, you know I have a soft spot for baby Darvey so you really started off by hitting me in straight in the feels. "The missing puzzle piece that he hadn't even known he's been missing." OMG! This whole excerpt is just the most poignant image of how Donna was different right from the start, even if he didn't understand what it meant. And how insane that he was still dancing with her 12 years later at Machel's wedding and feeling the same damn things and not doing anything about it! But I love the way you explained it...with the two different fears fighting in his mind and the fact that it "wouldn't be fear at all that would set him in motion, but his love for her and the need to finally make her his everything." Our boy is almost there, and it's beautiful to see the growth. Oh...now you are giving me all the wedding emotions! "For a long time now he's been aware that his heart had always only ever belonged to Donna." Okay. Okay. I'm fine. I'm totally fine until you decided to write their freaking wedding night sex as another dance! I'm not fine at all. "And it is a dance, the most ancient and intimate of dances, whose rhythm they easily fall into without any effort whatsoever." I'm not exaggerating when I say that this scene almost made me fall out of bed the first time I read it. Because although you set the bar INCREDIBLY HIGH, this might be my absolute favourite one of your love scenes. The flow, the cadence of the prose is just...wow. I fell under your spell! I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's never just sex the way you write it, it somehow expresses all the magic that is Darvey, and time doesn't only stand still for them, it stands still for me when I read it! And the feels didn't stop coming because then you gave us Gordon dancing and that's one of my most treasured headcanons. "They close the chapter Specter Litt Wheeler Williams and open the chapter Paulsen Specter Forever." Okay...I died. That is all. Their conversation about babies felt so realistic and I liked that there was an acknowledgment throughout that it might not happen for them, and that's okay because it's life. As sad as it is, it's also life that Harvey doesn't have his parents at his wedding, and I knew that would hit him hard at their second wedding :( This "sublimlinal sadness" is so right, and Donna's "I'm here" broke me in all the right ways. But then it was all okay because you hit me with a dose of UNICORNS AND RAINBOWS in the form of: "What changed?" "You." Yeah, Donna saying "you're gonna make me cry again" is me, talking to you! And excuse me, "moans and groan and screams of ecstasy", WHERE IS THAT PART OF THE FIC? Yes, I'm greedy (sorry not sorry) Well, I'm so glad they did such a stellar job with their babymaking and we got to meet Lilian! I loved how you chose a name almost like Lily but different enough for her to have her own identity. And even though I'm personally now sold on them moving to Seattle I love the life you painted for them, with this wonderful family and friends around them and time to appreciate all the small moments that make life so special. And I always loved the idea of their kids growing up with Machel's (and maybe even falling in love someday? Hehe). And in the end as you say, it doesn't matter where they live, because "it has always been each other's arms that has been home the most anyway." Oh and one more thing..."happiness and hope always beat fear by a landslide." And that could be the whole damn motto for Harvey's journey. Just thinking about everything they get to have together now that they've given into the happiness and hope makes me so emotional and you really did give us EVERYTHING in this fic! I'm so glad you had this amazing moment of inspiration on the autobahn and I'm so glad Darvey is married and my heart is just so full. Thank you, thank you, as always, for sharing your gift with us and creating these beautiful works of art! You never cease to amaze me with your talent xx |
Specter-Paulsen chapter 1 . 10/5/2019 NAT. You really do know how to pull on my heartstrings! What a glorious piece this is. You know how much I adore your writing but this one is even more wonderful than ever. You’ve included so many beautiful details, so many things that set this apart from other fics, so many things that make me smile. You’ve done an incredible job with this one, and I feel that I’ll probably read it many times over. THANK YOU for your words and your imagination and your joy. Em xx |
Guest chapter 1 . 10/4/2019 Wow, this story has such a smooth flow, and it is so absolutely breathtaking! And this is such a sweet moment: "Are you happy?" He wants to know, just to make sure that her earlier doubts about their impromptu wedding hadn't resurfaced. She doesn't even hesitate a second before replying. "I'm happier than I've ever been, Harvey." Loved it! |

darveyswhiskey chapter 1 . 10/4/2019 Oh gosh this totally broke me in the best way. The way you write them- the characterization and dialogue to the descriptions IT FLOWS SO BEAUTIFULLY HOW DO YOU DO IT. Also every time I read them having a baby/with a kid literally kills me and now I feel revived thank you. Please never stop writing them. I can’t wait for your future fics. |
Guest chapter 1 . 10/1/2019 SIMPLESMENTE LINDO! A M E I |
jendarveyx chapter 1 . 10/3/2019 Stunningly, beautifully, breathtakingly gorgeous as always. I’m running out of things to say in reviews to you because you just make my heart burst everytime. Where do you find the words for that?! The way he undressed her with such a reverence killed me, the image of it, ahhhh! I loved the theme of dancing running all the way through, and the lyrics of the song with each section. The pregnancy. Lilian. I’ll read this fic over and over and over again. I say it all the time, but I love your Harvey & Donna, I hope you never stop writing them and keeping them burning bright for us all! Lots of love xxx |
Nannalyn chapter 1 . 10/3/2019 Can you believe it's one week today since Donna and Harvey got engaged? And married? And then danced to 'Perfect'? And we all died? Me neither. 'Perfect' is not one of those songs that most people hear of the first time when it's used on a show or movie, and looking at the lyrics, the choice of that song for Darvey makes perfect (haha!) sense and this story further explores this in a wonderful heartwarming way. Aside from the lyrics, the dancing is the one big theme of this fic and the way you manage to incorporate it into all those scenes and use dancing as a metaphor feels as effortlessly to read as it does look when those two are gracing the dancefloor. It isn't possible to read this story and not get lost in its feels. And it starts off not being all sunshine and rainbows, but that's part of Darvey's story as well. And it's one of my favourite parts: young Harvey that you capture so very well, noticing she's different and how he used to hate dancing until he danced with her for the first time. UGH! "all Harvey knows is that he needs to keep her in his life and in his arms somehow, no matter the cost." Yes, this is beautiful and it still hurts a little bit. "There is an overwhelming urge to pull her as close as possible and an even more overwhelming urge to let all these emotions out and to finally let her in." I love how you describe Harvey's feelings and hopes here. When you look at them dancing in 716, you can't believe it still took them so long... Because it seems so obvious that there was more and it could have been *the time*, but well... "It's there already. Right under the surface. Only barely out of his reach." Exactly! I can't even believe they got married and that dance was real and everything. It's so overwhelming and you've written it all so beautifully.. "it all surpasses everything he's ever experienced before." AHHH I'm so happy for him! "like they've never not danced with each other. And in a way they haven't. Because their relationship has always been a dance. ..." ALL OF THIS! The metaphor is just so accurate and aren't they idiots! Yes, they had to find each other first and their rhythm... I truly hate them. When I noticed you have them continuing their dance into their bedroom on their wedding night, I already died a bit.. I especially love how it's the softest thing ever at the beginning. All that tenderness and love is KILLING me! The realisation that they are now husband and wife and how it changes everything and nothing at all. MY HEART! And how you bring their history into it as well: "And it robs her breath just as much, the knowledge that he loved her like that, that he had loved her like that all those years when she didn’t know if they would ever make it." All the Darvey feels! Those details make a difference for me. "Words fail them but thankfully there is no need for words in this very moment, because they have said it all with their bodies." I'm a mess again the third time reading this fic and there's still so much of it to come! *crying* I could quote so many parts but words also fail me often while writing reviews... "Are you happy?" KJSGFJGS after "You okay?" you kill me with another post-coital Harvey question and I CANT DEAL! KEEP EM COMING! (pun intended!) In the next part we're post 910 and I love how you bring their Seattle plans up because that's one of the aspects that's on the fandom's mind a lot and I'm interested in all the different takes on it. It always has me thinking if I can really see them in Seattle long-term and while I'm still occupied with the thought THERE IS THE BABY TALK! You really go all in again! And it's perfect. ;) The family wedding.. it's intimate and simple, Jim walking Donna down the aisle, Gordon... Lily... it's different and it's bittersweet, but not one bit less meaningful. It's what I would imagine it to be like and I love this part so much! Knowing what it looks like where they honeymoon in Ireland makes the images you already put inside my head even more unbearable and beautiful. Yikes! The starry night, the song, Harvey the sap, and the parallel to their 716 dance.. "What changed?" - "You." DEAD. That whole part is giving me goosebumps, it's so intense and real and them. I just LOVE. I think it's almost inevitable now that their kid/s and Mike and Rachel's kid/s will be about the same age and I love that thought! :D It's amazing to know they're closer to each other again, but it doesn't feel right that they are so far from NYC and Louis and their friends... so I really think they would be in touch very often. I can totally see Louis sending tons of pics from Lucy at all times of the day! Haha! "No matter what life would have in store for them, they are together and that is already more than Donna has ever hoped for. And it is also more than Harvey has ever hoped for, as he holds his wife against his heart. They are happy. Just the way they are. Everything else would just be an added bonus." This gives me so much joy. Because that is also how I see them and to know they are together now... *cryemojiseverywhere* Okay, my ovaries haven't been in the best condition to begin with, but after reading your version of them as parents, meaning Harvey as a dad, well... they're not really in any condition at all I'm afraid. He's been there for it all.. "dancing with her to distract her from the pain" during the birth KJGDSJFG AND THEN ALL THE IMAGES! MY HEART CANT HANDLE IT! " ... Donna; his beautiful wife, who looks even more beautiful and radiant ever since her light is shining with the combined love for him and their daughter." THIS IMAGE TOO! So so so so beautiful! AHHH I'm SO HAPPY for her, too, of course! All the love, all the happiness... it's really perfect (for them in their own imperfect way, that's what I love about the very last part especially), it's really everything... and this fic is all of those things too! You've really put so much into this fic, as you do with all your stories, but I know this was a very special experience and I'm so very grateful you shared it with us! Thank you! Yes, my sleep is precious indeed lol, but I would always trade it for being there for you in a heartbeat! ;) xoxo |
