Of course he won the league, the only worthwhile match was Koko vs Pikachu And the whole Torracat showdown (Rowlett as a giant bird killer is awesome as well). But yeah, 20 years in the making and it feels like the Orange League all over again. Pikachu, Charizard and Sceptile would have swept the Manolo Conference with ease.

I've got to agree with you, the win felt, aside from the fact that it was long overdue, pretty lacking in sense of satisfaction. Few points as to why:
-Ash was the only participant in all the trials, making him alongside his experience and party members over qualified.
-Everyone who participated in the conference had progressive just as many Pokémon as they are in battle.
-The finals are only a 3vs3, making it a bit scripted to the members of Gladions team, while the only climate battle is the ditto Lyrancrock battle, which is A. From Trade offs and Counted usage of moves the same as the Kalos finals, with Gladions doing the stone edge spam in comparison to Alains Charizards Dragon Claw, and b. The battle in not only a lackluster and kinda "no u" - way, but it's also not possible in the actual game. I mean COME ON, counter vs counter for real?!
That all alone, the fact that he takes pride in his "work" and second handedly ruining past League/rivals meaning to Build up, Meaning, Contrast and Performance. That's why I wish for Ash to lose so hard in the next League like Competition just so he can grow a pair and go back to the seasoned underdog he became in XY after 5 regions.

I literally did a story about this! I knew I was not alone in this. The writing for this was great, and I did like that you acknowledged the Alola team wasn't the best, but still gave a decent showing. It's just all hollow for me.

I am glad Ash won...but I expected more of a dramatic flare to it. He all of his looses ( except Unova and Kanto) were against tough opponents and he was pushed past it. Like a luster purge and volt tackle to a water shurken and blast burn, then his Charizard against Blaziken and Pikachu against Meowth. They were all great finishes but for it to just end with a counter against counter? Uhh I expected more. The battle ended to quickly for me.

Very well written, and I would agree, a monumental achievement like this does feel somewhat lacking and a little over-simplified, and could have benefited from more of Ash's past turning up, especially since Misty and Brock had turned up in the region earlier. In some ways, it's very true to life that you spend so much time and effort building to something, then it happens and you don't really know how to evaluate or appreciate success..it's not the feeling you were hoping for, it never is. It feels like just another ordinary moment.
