JamesTKent chapter 4 . 4/4 No, but character development is always appreciated. |
exactlymyidea chapter 3 . 12/7/2019 I am really enjoying this! Can't wait to read more. Thanks for writing and sharing |
ByrintheBookWookie chapter 3 . 11/11/2019 I really love the way you write Lois and Clark. You've managed to encapsulate their dichotomy so wonderfully. They're both hard and soft but in polar opposite ways. Lois is a razorback boar of a woman who just happens to not be quite as terrifying as expected and dear Clark is this adorable, fluffy, alpaca baby that somehow has superpowers and is totally impervious to what should kill baby alpacas. Tldr, I love it. |
ByrintheBookWookie chapter 2 . 11/11/2019 Gun-Crushing Man has the same energy as The Red-Blue Blur and I love it. |
Guest chapter 3 . 10/29/2019 Love it, can't wait for more! |
Guest chapter 2 . 9/28/2019 Can't say I was overtly fond of this chapter. For one there were the Professor and the other students of Clark and Lois' group. Now I might have just been lucky in that regard when I went to University but I simply can't take these guys seriously. They feel less like characters, even minor antagonistic ones, and more like walking cliches whose sole purpose is to put Clark and Lois in a better light as persons. Especially Lois who only don't comes off as a total a-hole, because the rest of the group is comprised of one-dimensional caricatures. Second problem with the chapter is that there was nothing happening. I neither expect, nor honestly want, every chapter of a story to be full of climatic battle scenes or world-shattering revelations. But an entire chapter dedicated to a journalism class and the work group our protagonist find himself in? Yeah, that was pretty boring. Not as in 'your writing was boring', but 'there is no substance to work with' boring. All this probably sounds worse than it is meant. I still look forward to the next chapter of your work. Having both Clark and Lois be college students of the same age is an interesting decision on your part. That will certainly change the dynamic between them. Until next time. |
Guest chapter 2 . 9/24/2019 Love it...can't wait for more! |
Guest chapter 1 . 9/11/2019 Interesting first chapter for the reboot. I look forward to see how this AU differentiate from the first story in the coming chapters. |
Guest chapter 1 . 9/10/2019 Good first chapter for the reboot. Pity you didn't continue the previous series, but if you think this is the way to tell this story then by all means. And to be honest there were elements that justified this move, through of course I don't know your exact reasoning. One of the biggest problems of the previous series was the way Superman was viewed. He was seen as something new and novel. Which in and on itself isn't a bad thing. The problem was that the history of your AU, as it was slowly revealed over the course of the story, showed that superheroes were very much NOT a novelty. Yes, things had gotten 'quieter' in the last years, but powered individuals never truly disappeared, which created a stark dichotomy with how Superman's appearance was perceived. Another problem was Jason Trask. Now I can accept the existence of someone that is such much of an jerkass, sexist, paranoid, bully and generally scum. What broke my willing suspension of disbelieve was how someone like that ended up with so much power and protection. Nothing that had been told about him showed that he was anything but a walking disaster, exaggerating any given situation and problem. His ability to disrespect and insult everyone, regardless of rank, on top of that it simply isn't believable that not only there were people willing to protect him politically, but that there was even existed someone high-ranked enough capable of doing so. Had your AU America been a more dystopian/totalitarian one I could have still accepted the guy, but that wasn't the feeling a was getting from your setting. I am curious to see what changes you will make in this reboot. The start looks promising. If possible update your profile with details of your plans, should you have finished them. Until next time. |
