I agree with the previous Guest that Claude would definitely have caught on to Hubert's interest and at least guessed his intentions while pretending to be oblivious. Also, I'm positive Hubert is well-aware of the Slitherers' role in the Tragedy of Duscur, especially Arundel's.

I think you're not giving Claude the credit he deserves nwñ he's easily the smartest among the three lords and even if he wants everyone to believe the opposite, he would figure out that Hubert interest is more than just annoying Lysithea. Claude knows that Hubert is too mature and smart for that, sure he would give the opposite impression so Hubert would not care and just let him tag along while trying to figure out what he's after.
Claude is not stupid and he went to Garreg Mach seeking power, and the retainer of non other than Edelgard von Hresvelg could be of use to him

This chapter does seem a bit out of place since it's much more serious than the other chapters. It's still cute though and nice to see how the others are getting along. In comparison to the seriousness of this chapter, the punishment chosen for Hubert just seems absurd. I just felt that it was unnecessarily dangerous and was too extreme for what he did. Other than that, I think the characterization for the other leaders and retainers is really good. I like how you drew from their supports with other characters and their likes/interests for inspiration. Keep it up!

Not as funny? Byleth is doing her best to help Hubert realize his dream of becoming a pegasus knight and not at all getting payback for that horrible fishing session. Edelgard is being a cute worrywart over the Black Eagles. This is golden.

I wasn't expecting Claude to ditch him! What a nice twist. I'm definitely looking forward to Hubert having to face the punishment from Byleth and then planning his revenge on Claude. And of course, having the two team up again would be cool. Especially since they both would be expecting the other to set them up somehow.

Oh my god, of course Hubert would try to assassinate her as a prank haha. I wonder how working together will affect the bet. Will they just call it off if they succeed? Or will it not really matter anymore because Hubert will realize how valuable of an ally Claude is?
