ak chapter 1 . 7/18 bonne fic! |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/17 This was good but it read more like a summary of an actual story rather than being a story itself. |
Ann Jinn chapter 1 . 5/20 Actually we all know the Harry Potter story so well, our minds fill in the blanks. Great job as always. |
mumphie chapter 1 . 5/3 Another great one. Perhaps someday your muse will tweak you to flesh it out some and makeit a multi-chapter novelette. ;) |
gginsc chapter 1 . 3/5 Nice. |
Midnite Girl chapter 1 . 1/20 Or might perhaps having served twelve years in Azkaban, escaping on the run, then having to be cooped up in that hellhole known as Grimmauld Place, he might have been a little out of it, don't you think. Why didn't Dumbledore or others seek professional help for Sirius. |
Fallow56 chapter 1 . 1/12 xxxxx KUDOS xxxxx : ) |
Guest chapter 1 . 1/7 Good...but I don't believe Harry would ever end up with Hermione...she's too much of a control freak! |
A.S.-sama chapter 1 . 1/7 Nice ;] |
Mercutio chapter 1 . 1/4 Thank you for this story. It was an interesting look into how people with sanity might handle the situation. |
RevDorothyL chapter 1 . 12/7/2019 I enjoyed this! :) |
Saissa chapter 1 . 12/2/2019 A bit of a rushed ending. I would have liked to have seen what happened when Harry and co went back to England. Or even if they just said NO and told Dumbles to do it himself - and who cares about a stupid prophecy! |
Right What Is Wrong chapter 1 . 11/19/2019 Good story. I liked that Sirius brought up the Unbreakable Vow issue. I think the answer is a couple of things: Sirius was severely depressed and generally mildly out of his mind due to Azkaban/Grimmazkaban, so he might not have thought to send it, and Albus is a sleaze/Minerva believes in Albus. Alternatively, Sirius handed any such letter to Kreacher with some ambiguous wording and it got given to 'Miss Cissy' and 'Miss Bella' instead. Alternatively, JKR's plot fell into a sinkhole due to whatever happened in the course of writing Goblet of Fire, she had to make major rewrites of her outlines from scratch, and the pressure of fame/deadlines/editors made her decide that characters WOULD obey her chosen plot, logical consistency be damned, even if she had to hit them with sledgehammers repeatedly to make it work. :P |
Cat chapter 1 . 11/17/2019 Very nice! I liked the believability of the tale, and the way you leave the ending somewhat open. I especially liked the way the characters basically remain as they were in the book...including Remus, who often gets turned into an incredibly horrible person by far too many people when there is absolutely no sign of that in the books, and JKR herself described him in an interview as "gentle, compassionate, caring, and kind." I have only one question, and its not really about the story, but rather your author's note: You say that the fact Sirius did not send a letter to Harry makes you wonder about how much he cared. How do you know, absolutely, that he didn't try? Consider: As far as we know, there are only 3 people connected to Hogwarts in the Order: McGonagall, Snape, and Dumbeldore. -I think we can rule out Snape. Sirius would never ask, and Snape would never deliver it. -Minerva McGonagall is an option, yes, but she is also loyal to Dumbledore. Isn't it more likely that Dumbledore would say that he would deliver it, and take it from her, and she would never think anything of that? -That leaves Dumbledore. Two things here, depending on whether you want to think along the lines of manipulative Dumbledore or not: ****Manipulative Dumbledore. Harry has to die due to the Horcrux. Sirius gives him a reason to live. Why would he encourage contact between them? Take the letter, promise to deliver it, "forget" the promise. Tell Sirius there's no reply. What's Sirius to do? ****Regular Dumbledore. He's afraid to speak to Harry. How does he get a letter to him? House Elves? Maybe, but Umbridge might notice that. And when Umbridge takes over, Dumbledore isn't in the picture at Hogwarts anymore, anyway. Added to that, for Sirius' own safety, Dumbledore might honestly believe that it would be a very, very bad idea for a letter from Sirius to be in Harry's possession. Didn't McGonagall tell Harry that communicating by letter was a bad idea? I don't really see how Sirius could have easily gotten that letter to Harry. This was a nice fanfic to read, and in a universe where Umbridge wasn't watching so closely it might have worked, but in canon universe things were pretty well sewed up to keep them apart. Still, I enjoyed the fic. Just please, don't assume that Sirius never tried anything like this in canon, just because any attempt he made never made it into a book told from Harry's point of view, because the attempt failed and Harry never learned of it. |
mwinter1 chapter 1 . 11/19/2019 Cool one shot |
