Miss Lib93 chapter 14 . 11/22/2017
Thank you for ending this on a happy note and getting Hogan back to where he belongs. All the major jerks that wronged the characters are dealt with and Hogan is "healthy". I loved how attitude improved the moment he was back, his showdown with Anders and chat with Klink; even Burkhalter's concern at the end. Thanks for writing this
Miss Lib93 chapter 3 . 11/20/2017
So Hochstetter did abuse Hogan, didn't he? My poor colonel. I still say the three of them should've shot the guy. Hogan surviving free from that guy is more important than his standards at this point.
Gunney chapter 14 . 10/19/2015
This was amazing. I'm late for work because I had to read the last few chapters. You did so much with this, it was dizzying watching the characters evolve. Thank you! And please, keep writing.
FloatingPizza chapter 14 . 10/14/2014
This is a dramatic, well-written, impressive work of fiction. I had a real emotional reaction to it. Your characterization was handled particulary well. I found Carter to be endearing and darn it, I admired him standing up to Anders. Also I was glad to see the group of Southerners that didn't go along with Anders' ilk, and liked Jackson and Carter's narration of the 'showdown'. As another reviewer has said, I would have liked to know what ultimately happened to Burkhalter and his family. He was another well-drawn character in this story, though really all of them are. But Burkhalter's my favorite, so I'm going to focus on him. You illustrated his pragmatism and bluntness very well, but I was glad to see him expressing his care for his family. He was so very Prussian in this fic!

(claps wildly) Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

Well done story, excellent tale. A beautiful, heart-wrenching combination of pathos and humor.

good job
Guest chapter 1 . 6/28/2012
that was an amazing story... i would rate this story 10/10-superb job... you are amazing - i thought the saddest part was with carter hoping Hogan was alright and they were worried about him and worried he may never return... there were very funny parts like with shelz and the story was great for making you ask you self what would you do if you were in their situation?
kellyh59 chapter 14 . 2/19/2011
Great story. Liked how you pieces from different peoples viewpoint. The only thing that would have made it better was an epilogue from London with Anders getting in trouble for endangering the operation by not playing nice with the allies. And maybe getting sent to a remote posting... maybe Nome or the Aleutians.
Shrimp chapter 1 . 10/12/2006
So fantastic. I'd love it if you would write more.
Holli chapter 14 . 2/22/2004
This story was an absolute delight to read. I love how everyone got a turn at narration (and you did a splended job on every one of them!). This was all around great work.
Misty Jezierski chapter 14 . 11/4/2003
I enjoyed the story very much

Had a hard time putting it "down"

I liked the perspective of the different people

But what about General Burkhalter's family?
ML Miller Breedlove chapter 14 . 11/2/2003
This was an inspirational story. Very thougt provoking. Hogan's march away from the advancing Russians was an eye opener. It led me to do a little research on my own. You made me curious! I had no idea what these men endured. Thanks for this wonderful story. ...and the education!

NotTheIngenue chapter 14 . 8/29/2003
I LOVED this story. Powerful plot, superb characterizations, it was wonderful! It made me laugh, but it also made me really think about what being in a POW camp was really like. Truly wunderbar! My only critique of the story is Carter... truly the innocent til the end, but, I don't know, he seemed exactly like a puppy. I had more faith in him than that... but then again, I haven't seen the show in awhile. ;-)

Anyway, I really hope you continue to write HH fanfiction! I can't wait to see your next story!

Kathy M chapter 14 . 8/8/2003
Great beginning that immediately draws the reader into the story. How can you not love a story that makes such great use of Hochstetter’s character? All of the heroes ring true—a masterful job. I love reading this author’s works.
