| amerdism chapter 18 . 5/31 Ya know, Jon’s decision here was always the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard a man do. An army of the dead are bareing down on you and the free folk want to escape them. And what does the idiot do? He kills the free folk. All the peace making he does after is even stupider. You could say he didn’t have the authority as he wasn’t lord commander at the time but he still could of saved tens of thousands of lives if he’s opened the gate before the battle at the wall rather than Stannis breaking the free folk army and them dying in mass at hardholm, how many actually survived that, 10 or 15 thousand out of 100,000? Yeah good on Jon snow. Sorry it’s just so stupid how it happens in canon to me. Cause when you think about it, Jon basically handed the white walkers the majority of their own army in the show since they killed most of the wildlings and made them into their army. That said. I’m hoping lord Overton isn’t as stupid, I’m not sure he could even break the wildlings army, Stannis had what? 5000 men? More? And surprise on his side. I imagine lord Overton isn’t a major lord in the north, which means he has at most something like 500 men, less if he sent me to help Robb. He also won’t be able to surprise the wildings now like Stannis did. Imogen can warg to her wolf and simply find a way to inform Mance of the new army and he can prepare the free folk for an attack. All in all, it feels like the nights watch are in a worse position now than they were at the same time in the show. |
