Reviews for Coercion
Ghostwriter chapter 13 . 2/19
Awesome job. Love it.
AceWyn97 chapter 13 . 10/7/2019
You gotta stop posting chapters so fast, I don't even have time to review in between them!
That's a great conclusion, everything's finally back to normal, or as normal as it can get, and if Severide found someone who can share his secret, that's even greater. Must be hard for rape victims, wondering if the next person they meet has a right to know what happened to them or not, and it's probably even harder to tell them.
Love that last conversation between the two 'Severide friends', that's how Coercion started and that's how it ends, and Severide's pretty lucky Voight was there all along. Great story!
Shalimar70 chapter 13 . 10/7/2019
Well, that was it now ! A really very successful and emotional ending for a bombastic great story.
Thank you for sharing it with us. I loved them from the very first second, even if I felt I used hundreds of handkerchiefs.

I found the opening scene something special. Kelly was finally able to overcome and accepted help. Really nice. And even if it was not Matt who took him there, he was there for him afterwards. That's true friendship :o) Benny has really pulled out all the stops to be a good dad. And he damn well done that, really well. I really like Benny in this story. :O)

And then in the apartment ... I could have wailed again - if I had had handkerchiefs :o)As Kelly was in his room and screamed so desperately into the pillow. God, I really felt sorry for Kelly. And even though Matt has heard exactly what's going on, he has left Kelly his free space. I really liked that.

To see Kelly so nervous because he has a "real" date was totally cute. And then everything ran so well - apart from falling asleep on the couch - GRINS that was really great to read. That he has been dating this Tish for so long now is a sign that he wants to tackle things differently now. I'm so proud of him ;o) Back to normal.

Grins! Too bad we did not meet Tish yet. But there was a nice last conversation with Hank. Very nice, too.

However, I liked best that Casey Kelly proposed to live with him until he found something different / new. Away from the bad memories. That was really the little icing on the cake what made it perfect.
You could just watch how the friendship between Kelly and Matt got even stronger during this time. Thanks for that.

THANK YOU again for the story, and now I'll throw myself fully on your other :o) :o)
Shalimar70 chapter 12 . 10/3/2019
A great chapter ... as always: o)
Since you think Kelly could finally manage to leave everything behind ... but far from it. He is still not well on the way to recovery, clearly show the scenes in the clubs :o(

This wordless communication between Kelly and Matt at the station was great. Casey knew exactly how he had to react so Kelly could get out of this "situation". The guys from the Truck and Squad could have just shut up.. But no ... that's the way they are (and they did not even mean it)

Wow, this scene in the bathroom had it in itself again … first-class written.
I feel really bad every time Kelly is so in his own right, he wrestles with himself and does not know what to do, how to react. Matt is his anchor and when he goes to bed with him, he just feels safe and secure.
And then he scares Matt into a fright by just not coming home. But ... it was nice to read that Benny is still there :o) You almost forgot him.

Will Kelly get involved and take professional help now? But somehow I would wish he would go there with Matt - if he does - and not with Benny. I think that would certainly help Matt very much, even if he does not know it himself!

Not true now ? Really just a chapter and then it's over? I can not believe it. All the more, I'm curious to see how you end it. ;o)
AceWyn97 chapter 12 . 10/3/2019
Man you really captured the feels in that shower scene, I'd have broken down completely too if it was any longer. But Severide should've realized by now getting back into his old life won't be that easy, it's been what, a few weeks, a couple of months? If anyone went through what he did I don't think they'd even be *thinking* about having sex for a long time.
I never personally believed all this 'talking to a therapist will help you' speech but, if it helps Severide, he needs an intervention right now. But I'm pretty sure the therapist will tell him that it takes time for everything to go back to normal, and it's okay, and hey, maybe he'll believe it if it comes from a professional.
Kareliza chapter 12 . 10/3/2019
I'm really enjoy you're writing. I'm glad of the way you are dealing with the Matt and Kelly friendship. Can't easily to see the ending. Maybe have Kelly help Matt deal too.
Shalimar70 chapter 11 . 9/30/2019
A normal everyday life ... that's nice to read. Nothing earth-shattering happens and Kelly really seems to be getting better and better. He even had a date ... that's what I call progress. Or not ? Things have to start slowly, it can not be the same again as before the attack. But Kelly seems to fight bravely :o) And watch TV with Casey is not so bad - Grins!
And yet it seems that he has not started anything with the woman already gnawing at him. Otherwise he would not feel that something was wrong with him again. But Matt has a good sense of getting Kelly back down, as you can tell by the nocturnal conversation.
Oh no ! Too soon looked forward to. Poor Kelly ! He certainly had not expected that when he went home with the woman. That must have been the real horror for him to feel so helpless at first and to be reminded of what happened to him.
Although it was hard for Matt, he somehow managed to calm Kelly down again. And not in 100 years, Kelly is one of the types that would not respond to a NO of a woman ... no matter how much he had drunk. Matt is absolutely right.
Clearly, Kelly is not over the mountain for a long time yet, not back to normal. But maybe someone who knows about such situations could really help Kelly. But his reaction to Matt's suggestion does not suggest that he would consider going to a therapist sometime in the foreseeable future. He just does not want more people to know about it. Somehow understandable, but I also think it would help a lot to talk about it with someone other than Matt. I wonder how you solve it.
Oh and please do not stop writing right away. I just love this story too much that I could "give it up" right now ;o)
Shalimar70 chapter 10 . 9/30/2019
A funny scene in the living room. I can really imagine Hank and Benny on the couch together :o) Good question! What was going on last night ?
Oh my God ! The three dead men ... that was Benny and Hank!? Or not? ? Will Kelly and Matt ever know what really happened to them? No, that should not be. Kelly has already suffered enough.
That would not make it any better for him. But either way ... in my eyes justice has triumphed. Even if not in a legal way. They deserve it and I do not feel sorry for them ... you do not go unpunished with a Benny Severide. Especially not if a Hank Voight is involved :o)
And yet, Kelly had suffered as he saw the article. The panic attack was really fierce, but Benny was there for his son
My goodness ... the conversation with Boden was awesome. Even if we did not get to hear the whole story here again - luckily for my heart :o).
But just as you wrote it, my hair stood on end. Boden was visibly shocked and it was clear that he showed so much understanding - did not expect anything else from him. And he accepted it without batting an eyelash that Matt or Kelly might visit each other's quarters at night.
It is really nice to see that there are still a few chapters here ... I am looking forward to it! Thanks :o)
Shalimar70 chapter 9 . 9/30/2019
Oh god Kelly ! I would like to be with him now, would press him firmly and never let go again. But luckily he has Matt.
How much does he have to go through? Will this nightmares stop? He is always totally exhausted afterwards and it is really hard to see him suffer so much. When Kelly was in the bathroom and Matt joined, I knew immediately that it was going to be fierce again. You always write "these conversations" with so much feeling that it's really hard for me to read them. It always forms a lump in my throat, which is difficult to leave. But ... you really do your thing damn good: o)
It's hard for Kelly to ask for help. And it's probably even harder for him to ask not to be alone. That's why I found this phrase "After i get dressed ... would you stay?" just beautiful: o)
And even if Kelly's wounds heal externally fast, inside it still takes a while. Understandable that Kelly does not want his mother to hear about the whole thing. He has a lot to nibble on that Benny knows and that's hard enough for him!
And again an emotional breakdown. I'm just so sorry for Kelly (I know I repeat myself) But what do you expect in such a scene? Kelly on the ground, broken, crying and full of pain. God, he can not hate himself for what happened to him. Howling!
But it's also nice to read that Kelly is always looking for Matt's closeness ... especially when it comes to sleeping. And Matt does not hesitate and lets Kelly to bed or vice versa.
And what the hell are Benny and Hank doing now ? Do I really want to know that ?
Shalimar70 chapter 8 . 9/30/2019
Life sucks sometimes … but that's not your problem :o)
Besides, I finally have internet again. ... after over a week. It was almost like torture - grins!

I had a lot to read and I have to say ... WOW ... you did an excellent job. Every single chapter had it all again. And I'm so glad you're writing a little further. Show how Kelly recovers and maybe finds his way back to everyday life.
But one by one ... first to this chapter here ;o)

Kelly still just can not understand why it happened to him, and in Matt he has a good friend who helps in this whole thing.
It was a good idea for Matt to get Kelly to join him. So he is not reminded directly each time what happened. And some distance from the apartment certainly does him more than good.

Nice, as Benny and Hank reminisce together. And also how the two approach again after such a long time.
The scene in the bedroom, between Benny and Matt, was beautifully written. Matt still thinks he does not do anything. He helps Kelly so much alone that he is there for him. And Benny is right. Kelly trusts Matt, otherwise he would never have told him what exactly happened.

Oh man, you think that Kelly would feel a little better and then ... Schnief! But the conversation between Hank and Kelly was really good and very emotional.
The idea that Hank would embrace Kelly would never have come to me. That really surprised me a lot. But that was really nice to read and it was just great.

The search for the perpetrators was interesting to read. How each suspect was sorted out and then landed a hit. I wonder what happens now.
Biichi-gi chapter 11 . 9/28/2019
Now there's that sweet, wounded Kelly we’ve been awaiting. And that kind of thing sticks with you, as we might know. I liked the 'turn about' with the female pretty much replaying his nightmare experience. Bet he never thought until then if he had been guilty of similar behavior. But, as Casey observed, even drunk he’s not that kind of guy. He would never do that and, aside from the outraged female who accused him of pretending to be a firefighter just to get her in bed, I’m pretty sure he’s never had a dissatisfied partner.

I’d like to see the therapist bit for a - well, some more drama—and wouldn’t it be cool if he and maybe Casey would work with the therapist to start a support group for men, and maybe women, in similar positions? Someone to share their— Lord I know Kelly's not a "touchy feels" kind of guy— but with the therapist asking and Casey going along for the support (and maybe to get over his own experience with the assault and recovery) they might start a recovery group or whatever they call it to help others in similar positions. One would imagine the therapist knows some who need to deal with it as well, or can find some amongst his associates.
Otherwise... Keep it coming, love. Don’t stop it now. Don’t stop it now.
belletane chapter 11 . 9/28/2019
Awww lovely chapter! l can tell that Kelly is recovering gradually but still has so many doubts. He just has to give himself time, be patient and he will get there. l love to see the guys' wonderful close relationship and as Casey said 'It is going to be alright'.
AceWyn97 chapter 11 . 9/28/2019
You have no idea how happy I was when I saw a new chapter! I wasn't really expecting one so soon, it made my day!
Of course Severide's not going to be okay with a woman right away, what was he expecting? But Casey did burst his bubble a few chapters ago when he told him it was his body thinking and not his brains, even if he was right, but I think his body's had enough of this kind of thinking for a while.
And of course he'd start wondering if he forced himself onto some of his night stands. We all know he wouldn't but after what happened to him, it'd change anyone, especially womanizer Severide.
Great chapter! I love how you explore him going back into the dating scene, that's something I always figured would be hard for rape victims, and there aren't a lot of stories that cover it.
thecatmomma chapter 7 . 9/25/2019
I figured this is a good chapter to start for a review...holy crap! If there were fanfic awards you'd get an Emmy for that scene at the beginning. It's so brutal and you paint such a vivid picture, I feel like I got knocked to the floor too. It took my breath to read the details of what Severide endured. And then the transition, us readers are finding all of this out the same time as Casey, just wow. It's heartwrenching to see Kelly so apologetic and all over the place mentally/emotionally. Casey and Severide's talk is so great, Casey seems to know just what to say most of the time and hopefully he's helped convince Severide none of this was his fault.

Also, I feel like I get an education from your fics - you've included several home remedies I've never heard of lol. Next time I'm naseuous I'll have to get some canned peaches.
AceWyn97 chapter 10 . 9/25/2019
I'm gonna leave one review for those last 2 chapters, because they kinda go together. I'd forgotten about the sleeping pills, but I did find it weird Benny'd drop the beer last chapter, so I wasn't completely surprised.
That's one of the perks of Chicago P.D., not all cops are clean, mostly Intelligence, Voight isn't afraid of doing what it takes and most of the guys in Intelligence let him, or even help in in Al's case. And if it makes Severide feel better, why should we complain?
So Boden knows, probably a good thing in case Severide freezes on a call or something, and he deserves to know because something like that changes a man.
