He let's people underestimate him until he's ready to strike. That's why he was worried about Ace and asked White Beard to call Ace off, not realizing what had actually happened.

He just met these dudes like 3 days ago and that one unassuming lanky kid is stupid strong and declared war on the world and then while your all resting, q different wierd fucker than comes and tries to kill you all , for the second time in less than a fucking week, but then their equival3nt of fucking chuck norris meets the terminator and cold clocks everyonw in thw room only to reveal hey, hes the lanky fucks grandpa, and then a bunch of op strong fucker keep popping out of nowhere, all related to the labky fuck within the time frame of like, 4 hours . Id have to sit and just contemplate wtf i just saw for a while.
