MissScorp chapter 1 . 4/7
Hi there! I don’t know Fullmetal Alchemist but it really didn’t matter as the point of this story was the reason why two parents chose a name for their baby girl. The reasoning to me is just gorgeous. Naming their daughter for a child that clearly suffered some dark fate. A name meant to remember that girl’s light. The same light that their beautiful daughter exhibits. The hesitation with revealing the reason why they gave her the name Nina is something I can see any parent struggling with. This isn’t a case of just liking a name or picking it for a family member that meant a lot to them. There’s a darkness associated with it and it’s not something that a child like Nina is ready to hear.

Winry making the decision to name her daughter Nina and refusing to allow the name to be tainted by the darkness really gives us a clear understanding of who she is as a person. She didn’t have to agree to name her daughter after someone she had no association with. She could have refused. She didn’t. She saw how important this was to her husband and she agreed to it. Same as she stiffened her spine when he was wondering if they made a mistake and told him that no, they hadn’t. Their daughter was a ball of light and that was all there was to it in her mind.

Really fantastic piece!

Oh. Oh, no. You got me right in the heart with this one. Ugh, this is such a tender scene; the little moment between Ed and Nina feels tangibly real, like some of the quiet talks I had with my own parents as a kid. Children can be shockingly insightful, sometimes, and they're able to pick up on their parents' moods almost instinctively. Nina giving Ed a kiss when he was feeling down is perfect, in that regard. Kids are sensitive to emotions, and, in my experience, quick to give back comfort and love.
I just...this concept is heart-wrenching and precious, and it feels like something straight out of canon. Because...he would name his daughter after Nina Tucker, who left such a stark impact on him.
And Winry reminding Ed of why they named their daughter what they did, when he gets too deep in his own head and gets stuck in remembering the bad things...it's one of those moments that illustrates why their relationship works: the genuine care and understanding they share, and how naturally they lean on each other and provide the support they each need. Ed and Winry balance each other out, and you've rather captured the...the comfort, the understanding they have with each other.
You, my friend, write phenomenal fma fics. This is perfect.

Elenluin chapter 1 . 8/11/2019
Lovely! Especially Winry's reaction to it all - understanding but not necessarily accepting the way he feels.
The Unkindness chapter 1 . 8/9/2019
Thank you for the review. Quite a touching story, dude. I watched FMA as well and it always pisses me off at what was done to
Nina by her own father.

Have a nice day
Multidimensional Scribe chapter 1 . 8/7/2019
I always imagined Ed's daughter being named after Nina. I like how you wrote it.
meritt chapter 1 . 8/5/2019
Oh my goodness... this story really highlights how beautiful it is that the three of them are a family! Winry showing Ed the goodness in his own decisions... the kind of father that Ed is... the two of them healing together after everything they've been through... it's all so beautiful! You are truly doing this ship justice! And thank you so much for the dedication! I am honored!
