they don't figure out that something is being guarded in the third floor corridor until the run in with fluffy, which hasn't happened yet. they also didn't see snape go towards it, so they have even less reason to think something is going on with it. there is also the fact that Quirrell is still putting up his stuttering and scared facade plus the golden trio don't even have the clue of 'purple' so they have absolutely no reason to suspect Quirrell. based on what they have (pretty much nothing, not even circumstantial or eyewitness evidence) IF they thought someone was going to steal something, they'd suspect Snape simply because they don't like him. Quirrell would probably be even below Dumbledore on the list of suspects.

technically at this point Professor Kettleburn is still teaching Care of Magical Creatures, Hagrid doesn't take over until Prisoner of Azkaban

I guess there is some resemblance between Hetty and Edna Mode from the Incredibles

hogwarys not having a code makes so much sense and is so dumb in hindsight that no one has ever brought it up before with all the shit that goes on in the halls that are against such things

I rather liked this story and am looking forward to reading its sequel. The only issue I had with it though was the lack of separators between scenes, other than that... :-)

Fun story so far. While personally can't call it a full story, it is a great start and you have had pleasurable pacing. Going to get started on the sequel soon.
