Reviews for The Lonely Goddess
Ruest chapter 39 . 7/23
Violet is an interesting character. Reading the story makes you root for her, but from an objective point of view, her morality is super questionable. She creates worlds of suffering to sate her boredom. She has all the power to stop that suffering at any moment she desires, yet she doesn't, because it wouldn't be "interesting" enough.

Metaphorically, she's a parent who had children for her entertainment. She clearly loves them as a parent would, but it's almost twisted. If I was in her world and knew the truth, I'd view her as a tragic but ultimately corrupt being.

Don't get me wrong though, I love her character. In fact, I like her MORE for being likable despite having flaws that I would despise in a god. It reminds me of Iron Man, who Stan Lee created with intention of being the embodiment of what the readers disliked, and then make them like him regardless.

She should have made it so that the Fake transcripts had Fake Stamped on them.

I have a question(s) author-sama
In the future would violet be forced or willingly use both her maiden and semblance to fight a stronger phone?
Will she use her goddess persona again to fix any issues that may come up?
Is the book vital for the whole story? like will it go to the wrong hands for some reason such as a spy getting it from oz hands?
thank you

Sivam chapter 39 . 7/11
Criminally underrated story amongst the cesspool that is RWBY OC fanfiction. I bet some people take one look at the title and summary and think "Wow, an RWBY OC that is literally a god. Just another power fantasy/wish-fulfillment story," and move on without even giving it a try.

Too bad, this story rocks.

It's so hard to find a writer that actually knows how to write a compelling original character. I can't tell you how sick and tired I am of seeing a promising OC story only to find out its a Gamer fic. People often hate overpowered OCs, the kind that strolls into the story and solves everyone's problems without so much as showing a shred of a character flaw themselves. We've all seen it before and most writers seem to think that making their character weaker fixes that problem. It doesn't.

This story is a prime example of an OC that is literally beyond the realms of calculable power and is still entertaining to read. It all really comes down too how the characters bounce off each other, that aspect of this story that really sells it for me.

I'll be honest, the fight scenes don't interest me as much as watching Violet's decision making when it comes to what action she should take next. She's a goddess trying to avoid the boredom of immortality and complete omnipotence. The stakes aren't in the fight scenes but in her very existence in the world. I want to say the real stakes of this story are whether or not she gets found out, and what happens once that eventually happens. Violet may have the power to dip into omnipotence, but her interactions with the characters are still very grounded mortally. She thinks like a human and acts like one without using her divinity. How exactly she would cope with the fallout of her secret being revealed is anyone's guess really.

Sure, she can just press the reset button and start all over again, or wipe the memories of the people around her, but by that point, she's already lost. The fun's over. The friends around her cease being the people she came to bond with. That's what I believe the stakes are here, and that is something I have never seen a writer tackle before in a fanfiction of all things.

Sorry for rambling. It's just so stunning to actually find a story with time and effort put into crafting an interesting character that doesn't come down to a Gaming system, or a self-insert, a character-body-takeover, or an amalgamation of all three. The last proper OC story I read that I actually enjoyed in this fandom was Reiteration, but sadly that's abandoned.

On a side note, I have read Black Lotus and have recently started on Re: Generation. While I can say that I'm not exactly vibing with Black Lotus, I can still say it's still a phenomenally written story. The overall darkness and complete sense of hopelessness and dread I feel from that story is mentally taxing, to say the least. I like Re:Generation so far, but I don't have much to say about that one yet.

Keep it up! Loving everything so far.

dw about the late update, hopefully you recover soon enough :)
Rockinshandy chapter 1 . 7/6
I think she's just incredibly conflicted. The boredom and emotional emptiness associated with immortality seems to be one of the main points the author is trying to make (even chapter one is called "boredom"). Violet wants to protect her teammates but do so in a way that fits her needs. She's definetly not a perfect God, and distancing herself from her omnipotence plays that up to human levels so not every decision is going to be completely perfect.
notvisiulebliss chapter 24 . 7/6
If she doesnt want her team involved then she should just use her power to make them stay at beacon... Honestly a whole lot of this 'drama' is easily avoidable... seems to be made unavoidable for convenience
notvisiulebliss chapter 14 . 7/6
Soooooo no cheating? Yeah right... Seems like she wants to feel sad... Honestly she is basically God right? So why does let things happen to those she supposedly cares about? Like I said before it feels like she wants to be hurt emotionally and feel sadness... Though with this chapter she clearly wants be seen as the cause of things... she wants to be blamed for deaths because she doesn't use her power to 'cheat'
Whitest Manta chapter 38 . 7/4
Ssson of a. You're really leaving a cliff hanger. Really. You're really doing that right now. That's just evil.

I don't know how well Violet would have faired against General Ironwood, I'd figure she'd put up a pretty good fight. At least in a 1v1, I was surprised when it became a 1v2, and Winter was added into the mix. In that case, yeah, I can't see Violet lasting all that long, even with her Maiden powers. It would have just been a matter of time before they were overwhelmed.

Otherwise, it was a good chapter. Looking forward to the next one. :)

Oh wow, Ozpin being flustered. Things are going to pick up quite soon I'll bet. It's nice knowing this fanfiction isn't at risk of dying.
Rockinshandy chapter 38 . 7/4
All caught up, loving this :))))))))))))))))
Whitest Manta chapter 36 . 7/4
And now I've caught up with the series. This has been fun binge reading. I hope you're feeling better, Sybaen.
markiparky123 chapter 38 . 7/2
I personally lliked how you haven't just allowed violet to beat them both instantly. (Unlike other OCs)
