I cracked up.

I rewatched the entire show after ETF came out and I, too, was wondering when and how GIR asked for the moon, so thanks for this. I love the whole exchange of GIR thinking it's some living entity following them and ZIM taking him fully seriously ("A Blokanian barrage beast! ... I knew the people of Blokan would send someone after me soon!") Really made me laugh and captured the cadence of their dialogue.

Very adorable story, and succinctly written too. Not a line was wasted and the dialogue felt incredibly accurate to the show. If IZ wasn't so fast paced most of the time, I would've loved to see more character moments in the show exactly like this. You establish a brotherly relationship between them, which is a dynamic I favor over master/slave or straight man/foil.

This is probably the most realistic "backstory" to the moon promise I've read where it's not too sentimental or OOC. I applaud your ability to keep Zim in character even in sweet moments like this.

Heh, this was so random, at least with how GIR learned about the moon, that was funny and of course he would easily get attached to it.

"Promise?" I could so imagine GIR asking that, XD.

All in all, nicely done because I think this might have happened when Zim promised the Moon to GIR.

I enjoyed reading this. To me, GIR is like that of a baby brother to Zim, or their relationship can even be compared to a parent/small child relationship. This fic comes across that parent/child relationship in this story. It's sweet of Zim to promise the Moon to GIR. Always nice to find an Invader Zim story that is touching, sweet and makes you chuckle. Very well done!
