I like this a lot too. It will be interesting to see how he grows through his travels. A very different Ned but still the same at the same time. I get the feeling though that Rickard will lose Ned even more if he leaves Lya and Ben to the Maester. Look forward to the next one!

I absolutely love this story. Can't wait to see bad ass grown up Ned, and hope he's paired with Ashara here too.

Pretty amazing story, a little rough around the edges but still good. A diamond in the rough or so to speak.

Ned would have been super op if he could defeat 19 year old Jon Umber but I am glad you are keeping his skill level consistent with what you have already shown him capable of. That consisten logic is what I think the best quality of this story.

Interesting chapter and idea and plot

Love the story so far,hope you haven't stop writing perhaps it can move faster and skip certain details to be told later,also big Eddard and ashara fan.

They could become sort of like the mountain clans! Oh and I love how Ned is called the Starkling!

I kind of want Ned or maybe Jon (that would be the future Greatjon, yeah?) to suggest the North team up with the free folk who are also killed and raped and stolen by raiders and cannibals. If they all teamed up against them, that would lead to peace among the remaining free folk and then the North would be able to farm more land. Maybe the remaining free folk (regular families) would even decide they wanted to settle in the New Gift?

You did a great job of Rickard-Stark describing Neds actions. Had tears when Ned started crying and saying I promise.
