Hiccup still is a walking ball of self-doubt from the way he was conditioned by his Father and his 'Friends'...His inclination to fall back into all of that is so hair trigger for him, regardless of who helps him get past this. Stoick...did a real number on him, that his bullies drove into the gravel, face first.

Astrid's hopes and fears of a best friend who could be a boyfriend are still a work in progress, but she put it out there and he did too.

Now to rebuild and continue on. Together.

I really like this story but you must tone down their actions a little bit. This is just meant as advice. While reading this all, it feels more like teenagers instead of thirty year olds with Hiccup and Astrid still being awkward around each other, Hiccup running off, Astrid crying, Snotlout being pushy. You decided to make them thirty and with thirty you don’t act like teenagers.
Please do not be hurt, I truly think you are an amazing writer and I will continue to read this because of that but this is just meant to help you make this story a little bit more believable. Tbh, while reading this I totally pictured RTTE Hiccup and Astrid instead of grown up Hoccsteid so I thought I had to mention that.

Loving this story so far! Since this fanfic is based on 96, wouldn't that mean Astrid is already married with kids, cause technically she's Janu? Or maybe it's different... Keep up the good story! Waiting for the next update!

Didn't take long for Snotlout to dig into Hiccup's insecurities of himself to get a rise out his cousin...At Hiccup's expense, of course...

But what Hiccup tossed back into Snot's face may keep the ego driven young man from trying to tear someone down like this to make Snotlout look better...

A couple of 'cats are out of their bags' so to speak...and now someone wants to learn more about them...

this is such a promising start! I love your writing and I think it deserves more reviews!

After his walk down memory lane about Astrid, Hiccup again went over missed signals, ignoring signs of such affection-even from reports from their friends were ignored by both, failed attempts to go further than friends, and finally the moment when he lost it all...for reasons not quite explained yet.

But, really? After a life of being conditioned by his Father of how little he measured up to expectations that were unreal, Hiccup could overthink the making of a peanut butter sandwich and starve to death if not prodded into doing something about his hunger.

For taking that step with Astrid? His conditioning as his Father's embarrassment strongly took hold of his emotions and thinking, so he passed up so many chances to tell her...because he thought himself as worthless to her.

Astrid, not quite as bad off as Hiccup...still fought with stepping further from friendship into romance with the fear of failing and losing all of him. Something he also fought internally about...

Now, Astrid's arrival is soon and maybe their 'Reunion' won't be bad...once she stops reacting to the dead air of 15 years...and maybe Hiccup can explain why he left her hanging for 15 years...

Bet the gang has popcorn nearby for this event...

Yeah, reunions can be like that...Or so I've been told. Haven't been to any of mine...and have no personal experience...

Now, after the ice-breaking of so many there, and all the questions answered and avoided...

Someone is coming to the reunion who has unsettled them all.
