This is was an awesome story and i really loved it! I've most likely read it at least 5 times over. You did an amazing job on this Fanfiction and i really hope you write more stories. And if you could possibly take a request i would love to read Roys point of veiw during everything. But if you either don't want to or can't thats perfectly fine. Again, you did a wonderful job and you should continue to write stories like this.

Hi there! Ouch, poor Ed. Getting a bit more of an understanding for why he can be a bit reserved and distant in the other pieces I’ve read. It’s not that he’s unfeeling, it’s that he’s gone through so much that he has to compartmentalize everything just to function. He clearly loves his brother and Winry but he sometimes holds himself back from them because he doesn’t want to burden them or cause them any pain. Well, he doesn’t get a choice here because he walked into an explosion and can’t hide his pain. He has to deal with it and deal with his brother seeing him as he deals with it. Have a feeling that part is what he dislikes the least. He can’t scoff off or hide that he’s injured and has to see how that makes Alphonse feel.

His relationship with Mustang is certainly interesting. I mean, when you call your commanding officer “Bastard” and get away with it? You either have a great relationship with them or they just accept that as being as their nickname heh to me it’s pretty evident they are close given how Mustang goes to rescue Ed and comes to check on him in the hospital. Granted, he’s being a good commanding officer and all but the amount of care that is in his actions and his words suggests this is someone who cares about Ed as more than just an officer in his command.

I loved the ending with Mustang’s parting shot and Ed yelling after him. It brought the story full circle and ended things on an upbeat note.

Aaaaaaaah this is everything I wanted and more! Somehow. Somehow your fics are exactly to my taste? You check every box. Elements of hurt/comfort, parental!Roy (or at least a Roy who cares more than he lets on), Ed being bullheaded and Al lecturing him, the self-recrimination he has when he's lying there alone and waiting for help... Absolutely perfect. :D
You describe Ed's feelings after the explosion so well; the way you build up the scene as he gets his bearings-! Magnificent! This fic is an emotional journey, and I felt like I was right there alongside Ed through it. And, of course, the culmination was wonderful. Ending with their fond bickering, and with a short joke...somehow you're able to capture the tone of canon perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you so very much for sharing it.

Totally get what you mean about friends talking you into a fandom. My best friend was also the person who convinced me (also after multiple years, ironically enough) to finally sit down to watch FMA, and man. I was impressed. Love how your mom got into the show too :3 That’s so cute!

But anywho, onto this beauty we have here! :D First off, I really enjoyed how you incorporated internal dialogue throughout the story. All of it felt very natural and fit Ed’s character really well. He’s stubborn to a fault, and here, it really bit him in the butt. You make no bones about it that he really hates the vulnerable situation he’s in, but that’s what makes for some good “I’m hurt but don’t want comfort stoppit” moments when Roy shows up. *me chuckling in the background* You get hurt, Ed, you get the comfort. That’s how this works, smol child.

“Panic grips Ed by the throat” is for sure my favorite line. There were a lot of good ones in here, but that one really struck me for some reason. It got across all of Ed’s emotions in a very fast-paced, very visceral way. I enjoyed that :D “The sky doing loops around his head” and “the brush of fingertips against Ed’s shoulder is as bright and uncertain as it is brief” both also got me good, though. Loved those visuals.

“His flesh hand...clench[es] the fabric of Mustang’s...jacket before he’s fully aware of what he’s doing.” You can’t escape the fluff, Ed. It’s gonna happen. (O'u'O)9

What’s so great about all of this is how reserved both Ed and Roy are. Ed would rather dish out insults than handle emotions, and Roy would rather just pass off a small joke or not say anything at all. It makes for good angsty interactions. Looooove it.

You do a great job with Al’s voice, too! I heard his English dub voice when he was talking to Ed after he wakes up, that metallic echo and childlike uncertainty. I don’t know how you got that down so well, but whatever you did, it worked amazingly! Never stop.

“‘You think I can just hand out affection like a…like anyone else?” *me in the background with a microphone* You are his da-ad. You’re his dad. Boogie-woogie-woogie.

Ahhhh, this thing was so good. If you couldn’t tell, I loved it. Thanks for writing and for feeding me short person jokes directed at Ed, haha. Enjoyed them so much xD Great work, Rook!

Oh my gosh, I love the first three lines of this fic!
And I love the gradual reveal of the situation that he's in. It's just the kind of writing where I can't look away from the page (well, screen XD) because it's so gripping! There's so much of Ed's tone here, too, and I get a really really strong sense of his personality and his and Mustang's relationship! It's really strong writing and I think this is one of my new favs among your fics. Happy writing!

:))))) I didn't know you also wrote FMA! I'm like you, I just watched Brotherhood recently and hurp why did I wait so long cause I loved it.
And this! Mustang cares about you EDWARD but that doesn't mean he'll ever be...above the short jokes. This was such a typical Ed move, charge head first into danger. And he got his ass handed to him but then he was okay 333
Also I think it's super cute you got your mom to watch it with you and turned her into a fan! My parents never got the appeal of anime either because they only ever really watched me watch Sailor Moon and they didn't realize what anime could be. So that's cool and kudos to you for turning your mom onto it!
