yeah i can see what you mean about jaune not really understanding what being a hunstman means in the beginning and stuff. here's wondering how he'll get out of that little "phase" in here, or at least without weiss as one of his main reasons as was shown in here.

i can see what you mean with nora based off of first impressions and stuff. didn't considering that little observation report happening, nor aqua being it them. i'll honestly find it funny and ironic in a small way if she was the one to become the autumn maiden.

so next up the beat down between the sunny dragon and side charater i don't think just about anyone cares about, cardin. here's wondering if the latter will pull some kind of trick on yang to win or cheat or something.

The problem with Jaune’s rough start is definitely tied to the fact he thought Beacon was the starting point for Huntsman training. He had no idea that all the earlier schools like Signal even existed and everyone at Beacon would already have have years of training under their belts. You do have a point with laziness though, until his reality check in Jaundice he though he could just waltz into Beacon and come out a hero four years later.

Loved this chapter, especially the ending. I'm a bit sad we don't get to see the manga's version of a first combat class (Ruby vs. Cardin), but then again, watching Cardin in pain will always be amusing.

That said, I'd like to point out something: The threshold for elimination by Aura level is 15% in single and double matches, not 25%. In team battles, the threshold is 20%. This is shown in the tournament in Volume 3. Not sure if this will influence your story unduly, but I thought it important enough to point out.

Jaune's a bit clueless early on. Hope to see him whipped into proper shape a tad sooner than canon.

Cardin deserves what he's about to get. Viewer discretion is advised.

If this is somekind of poll of who should inherit the Maiden's power (and succeed in preventing Cinder from gaining the other half) then i vote Aqua. Reason is because anyone who obtains the power means they have a target painted on their backs and Aqua being the teacher will be damned to allow any of her students be put in the line of fire.

Knowing her, she is a type of person who takes the fall for others like she did for Terra.

The only obsticle is Qrow.

Hah! Carrie's gonna get it~! On a side note, I thought the Aura meters hit the red at 15%..? Dunno, I'm typing this around 2 am, and I can't be bothered to check. The Maiden candidate scene was interesting, and I don't doubt that Oz may have done that in canon, possibly monthly. Anyway, can't wait to see Cardin get his mace shoved up his- ahem! Figuratively speaking, of coarse.

Perhaps Aqua can grudgingly throw (salt) at Cardin's face when ever he (insults) someone in her class knowing its going to get a kick out of Yang.

I'm going to have to agree with Dragon Rider 66 here, I feel as though Yang is kinda getting teensy bit scot-free for cheering for Bourbatusk. Heck, I think she (and Blake) also need to apologize as well for their behavior.

Decent chapter, though I would raise an eyebrow if they suddenly all become BFFs. This is just a step towards to becoming a team. I would expect that they would still grind each other bones at times, but friends in the end forgive each other. Though we got mostly Yang and Weiss to accept each other, my curiosity lies with Blake since she's Weiss's partner in this fic.

As for how Professor Port captured the Grimm, I assumed he just caught it before class started which is why it's still alive.
