90TheGeneral09 chapter 33 . 7/6 Solid work on this chapter, as always. It's rare for me to spot any proofreading issues, although I did keep an eye out like usual. I need to update Perspective, but you did fine going ahead and depicting your story's "side" of the follow-up on Josh Jr. and Riley's fight. I'd say that's probably how it went, summed up. Gibbs working to get the information from both parties, Josh Sr. arriving to take it from there on his end, Gibbs leaving with Riley, etc. Josh Jr. is a school prefect at Xavier and his parents are a Marine general and Xavier school governor respectively, so his courteous behavior was in part due to his realization that acting like that might embarrass them. And also because of who Gibbs is, and how Josh Jr. was raised to behave in general. Interesting scene with Makayla and Melissa here; it's plausible and understandable that Melissa was so ready to believe a version of the story that makes it all Riley's fault. She even outright disbelieves that Josh Jr. could've started the fight! But instead of fighting again and going their separate ways, Melissa and Makayla both managed to pull back a little and work things out for the moment. I don't doubt that talk travels very fast at Xavier. Kids are still kids no matter what school they go to, and no matter who their parents are. And the "in crowd" can get very consumed with all the social concerns, whether or not that was even their goal originally. If you want to be in with the in crowd, you go where the in crowd goes. I haven't watched enough of the earlier seasons to know- did Gibbs actually kill someone outside of the line of duty? Seems like he did, based on his reaction to the dirt Riley says Trace claimed to have on Gibbs. If so, I don't think it's just to demand Riley be completely straight with him while quite possibly concealing something himself. Addressing what a Guest reviewer said, I would agree- somewhat- that this version of Gibbs is different from canon. Slightly AU, maybe. You cover the domestic side of things much more than his ongoing career, and while I could see Gibbs adhering to some old-fashioned forms of parental discipline, I don't believe the show itself ever commented on whether he actually does in canon. Now I need to get moving on some updated work myself. Please be patient with me; free time is scarce right now. |
Nmasters12 chapter 33 . 7/6 I really love this story especially since we are on quarantine due to my sister has the virus . We live in Texas and people didn’t follow the rules so we have more sick now than we had when the country was shut down we have been locked down for 14 days and now we have to stay locked down another 14 days and hope and pray that none of the others that live here get sick we have 5 kids and 3 adults in our family it’s hard to keep sick ones locked away from the healthy ones . Please pray that this virus does not attach any other members of my family. But I do love all your stories please continue the story and please update what the little girls are into and what Gibbs older ones Tim Abby Zika tony I know they are probably into some mischief. |
Guest chapter 33 . 7/6 Your choice of boxing was the perfect answer in how to deal with him. Your description of the whole event was perfect, well done. I can see why you don’t have Gibbs actually go any further, it’s important, the trust between them. Maybe Riley needs to talk to Mak about how she feels after Gibbs has had one of his ‘discussions’ with her. Perhaps she will be the one to get through to him. And then perhaps he can appologize to Gibbs - that would shore up their relationship. Great chapter, well done. Thank you. |
athousandsuns101 chapter 33 . 7/6 Hi I love your story! I loved that Gibbs was able to chip away at the chip on Riley's shoulder a little. i only wish he and Josh hadn't gotten into a fight. Poor Melissa and Makayla, things may be a little awkward around holidays with both of their boys fighting. I hope that Makayla didn't skip school. Things are finally starting to go her way and no offense, but she needs to realize that Gibbs does not have to tell her everything that goes on with Riley. They are allowed to have things be just between them without her. I liked that Gibbs and Riley talked a lot and I think grounding him makes a lot more sense than spanking him. Let's just hope Makayla didn't skip and Melissa brought her home or something. I am from a small town in Connecticut, America. |
DS2010 chapter 33 . 7/5 Glad Gibbs finally got what happened out of Riley he is one stubborn kid. Hoping Makayla didn't skip class again ... That would not be good and require parental intervention and a trip to a good spanking . |
GuestG chapter 33 . 7/5 Has she skipped school or is there a sneaky little twist coming up? Can't wait to find out more. - I live in a small village in north west England near to Liverpool. |
Fan chapter 33 . 7/5 My heart aches for poor Riley. Gibbs is trying just about everything he knows to get through to him. The trauma he's suffered has affected him so deeply it will be a long, slow and painful recovery. Thank you for your sensitive writing. I'm in th UK. Lock down is beginning to lift but things are still a bit scary here. Hope you and your family stay well and salvage some of your summer. |
AureaD chapter 33 . 7/5 I don't know what you were worried about, this chapter was excellent. I just hope that Riley has told Gibbs everything and I'm glad he accepted Gibbs' consequences. As far as Mak is concerned, at least she didn't run off searching for Riley this time and waited in the sensible place for their return. But did she skip school, again? As requested, I'm from Cardiff, Wales. |
fanclaire chapter 33 . 7/4 Thank you for this chapter! Gibbs finally got his answers! I loved the passage where Gibbs told him that spanking children is his choice, that he owes him respect! ... Wow. The man is right to punish Riley to the ground as a child. He's a child! I really hope that Riley will one day understand the difference between spanking and abuse. If Mack skipped school, Gibbs' hand will have a conversation with the child's bottom! |
Bohogal1998 chapter 33 . 7/4 Please update soon. I hope Makayla is alright.! |
Guest chapter 33 . 7/4 I'm pretty sure Gibbs did not punish Mak for running toward a dangerous situation. He spanked her for not telling him what was going on with Riley. He was a bully and nothing more. The Gibbs in your story is very OOC and I just don't like him very much. Sorry. The Gibbs that in the show actually has respect for kids. He listens to them. He does not treat them like they can't think for themselves. Like with Janessa and her being picked on and kicked in school. He would not have told her to do nothing to defend herself. He wouldn't want her to start the fight but he also wouldn't want her to just do nothing. That's just one of the problems I have with Gibbs in your story. Most of my problems have to do with how he deals with Riley. It started in the last story when Gibbs told Riley that he owed his mother respect. I'm not sure where Gibbs gets that from. Riley owes his mother nothing but contempt. I'm just tired of Gibbs acting like he's the only one who can help. Also, it pisses me off that Gibbs expects Riley to be completely honest with him and then lie to his face about how Trace manipulated him. He did kill someone in cold blood. True the guy needed to be killed. But still it was in cold blood. I don't know how Trace got that information but I don't think he was making some very good guesses. So, I think if Gibbs wants Riley to respect him then he needs to start showing how much he respects Riley and everything he's been through. Which is more than Gibbs has been through in his entire life. Just my opinion. |
Guest chapter 33 . 7/4 Loved this chapter! Riley accepting Gibbs discipline. I still think he needs to learn the difference between abuse and a good old fashioned spanking. Maybe him doing something and feeling guilty about it and asking Gibbs to show him the difference! Mak is going to be in some serious trouble! Can't wait until the next chapter! |
Mindless Creations chapter 33 . 7/4 Another wonderful chapter from you. Thank you. Your scene descriptions and dialogue are brilliant and I find myself getting lost in your creations. I look forward to your next chapter. MC xx |
guest chapter 33 . 7/4 I am from Ont. and I enjoy your stories very much. You really know how to keep your fans coming back for more. Thank you so much for taking the time to entertain us with Agent Gibbs and his new family. Cheers |
ancilla89 chapter 33 . 7/4 That was an amazing chapter! I can almost visualize the fight scene-good descriptions! I love Gibbs' plan-and how it worked. Poor Riley! I'm glad he opened up to Gibbs. And of course the ever-looming threat of Pedro Hernandez. Really hope Makayla does not skip class...can't wait for the next chapter! |
