This is where i believe DnD messed up... Jon snow was the prince who was promised as it had been alluded since the beginning. then to have Jon Snow to do nothing other than become a shadow in the later series was and is a disservice. He was supposed to bring Westoros to a new age of ruling. even though i don't approve of Dany and Jon simply because like nope. maybe Arianne Martell so they could fix old relation

You are going to punish all those who betrayed the Targaryen house, you are going to teach them the meaning of Fire and Blood; Now when the news that you are alive spreads across kingdoms and free cities the impact it will have will be enormous. All who were loyal to you will come looking for you Rhaegar, after all you are their rightful king; you will enjoy in fear that you will give to all your enemies.

So, at his essence, Baelish is a survivalist. He might want power, but he also wants to live. Now that he knows that Rhaegar is alive and has dragons, I see him jumping ship and sucking up to Rhaegar. He'd know that he can only go so high when there are dragons involved and that it's better to stay alive and gain the Targaryens as allies than to back a losing horse (or stag). Dragons really are the Essosi/Westerosi nuclear weapons and he'd know that there is nothing his spying and wiliness could do aganst one dragon, let alone many. But if he jumped ship and told the Targaryens all he knows, then he could likely still retain importance and power. If he's still Master of Coin when Robert is overthrown, then he is screwed and won't end up with anything.

Also, I agree that they can't *openly* use magic to win the war given that most of the Seven Realms are followers of the Seven, but that doesn't mean they can't use their magic in more subtle ways that can help them win more easily! They could use magic to strengthen the armor and shields of their soldiers. They could disillusion themselves and apparate or sneak into the enemy camps and free all of the enemy's horses, thus depriving Robert's armies of any cavalry. They could just free the horses and let them scatter but they could also just steal them and make their own cavalry larger. They could disillusion themselves and spy on the lords both by spying on their meetings and by sneaking into their tents and reading their correspondence. They could also easily INTERCEPT any correspondence by summoning ravens that leave the camps! They could disillusion themselves and ambush supply caravans...that would be the single most effective way because an army can't march or fight if they can't eat. There are probably other things they could do too!

So it begins, Ned now you know the war started; no matter what Robert and Tywin try to do. You know very well that Rhaegar will not have mercy on all those who betrayed him, the wrath of the dragon is a terrible thing to see; but you understand they killed two of his children you would do the same. Stannis you must prepare everything to save the Baratheon house, you are sure that Robert will perish in front of Rhaegar and his dragons; it's up to you to save the Baratheon house.

Read the entire story in one day and i love it!
I will admit the whole 'heir and lord/lady of a bunch of houses ' and 'powerful, inheritance' stuff is a bit cliche and overdone, but honestly? i prefer it like that.
