if anything Star could share the throne's power with Meteora (who could battle her inner demons to be free of Henious's blight forever) or give her something to make it feel like she's still part of the royal family lineage.

What a big decision they had to make. Glad they know that as long as they back each other up, things will turn out alright. Also it's funny you brought up Mr. Candle since I did the same in Lingering Baggage page 27. Marco did change her perspective that day and it's an extremely important moment.

You know, even though Star ended up giving up the throne and being a Princess forever, I still think that she would have made an amazing leader. The leader that Mewni would have needed in the end, and Marco would be an amazing King. He's got all the great qualities of a leader: patient, level-headed, knows when to break the rules. They're perfect.

I'll admit that when the show revealed Marco Jr. was a boy, I was shocked. But the moment I saw Star hold Mariposa and smile down at her I instantly fell in love. Plus, they named her after Star which shows they already considered her family. C'mon, Marco's parents knew Star and Marco were going to get together eventually and already considered her a daughter in law.
